Boatrights at POR ?

In looking at the menu/comments/reviews, this place looks very good on paper, but I don't know much about it and have never been there. We are staying at POR and thought we may swap out one of our ADR's to eat here. Anyone want to share their experiences?pixiedust::joker:

I ate there in June with my sister and her three kids (5, 8 and 12). It was one of our favorite meals of the trip. The kids wanted to eat there again, but we ate there late in the week and couldn't fit it in again. I had the shrimp app, jambalaya and pecan pie. Yum in my opinion!

We ate their on our trip. The food and service was actually pretty good. I had the Voodoo Chicken dish. The atmosphere was nice and I enjoyed strolling there and back to our room at the French Quarter. It was a nice change from eating in the parks.

I would say it depends on which ADR's you are looking to swap it out for...
depends on the restuarant!

We were very pleasantly surprised by our meal there! We didn't expect much but it ended up being one of our favorite meals. Nice atmosphere. We shared an appetizer & dessert.
Would definitely go back!

Also there is a pianist at the lounge nearby, and he is hilarious! Between dinner and an after-dinner drink with entertainment, you can make it a fun evening!

Everytime we stay at POL, we eat at Boatwrights. It is a great restaurant with delicious food. :thumbsup2

We've dined there twice in the past two years and both times we loved it. Ther service was good, the cake like corn bread was excellent, and the meals were great. If you are staying at POR, and especially if you need a break, this is an EXCELLENT restaurant to book! :goodvibes

We stayed at POR in November, and one evening we were kind of zoning out so didn't want to make the trek to our planned dinner - and stopped in to Boatwright's instead.

Hadn't been there in literally years, and the last time I was there is was for breakfast (those were the days) - but it was a highlight for everyone. The service was prompt and very friendly.... and the prime rib was gorgeous. We had a pair of pescavegetarians with us who really enjoyed their crawfish etouffee as well. We were overlooked in the process of being seated (they skipped us and seated other walk-ups who had arrived after we did), but it only caused a few minutes of extra waiting (for a total of about 20 minutes). To thank us for our patience, the manager brought us a couple of complimentary appetizers - a variation on the usual shrimp-and-grits one that was awesome, and a large "family-style" salad to share. This to me was above and beyond the call of duty, since we really hadn't suffered much inconvenience.

We had dinner there twice on previous trips but will skip it on the next one. The food is OK- not bad, but with all of the unique offerings at the World like character meals, Boatwrights didn't make our cut.

If you want a relaxing evening at the resort then by all means choose it and you won't go wrong. Late in our hot August week when we're all tired I could easily see us cancelling an ADR and adding on Boatwrights at the last minute.

On our last night, we have reservations at Tony's at MK. We have never been to Tony's and wanted to give it a try this trip. My wife and I are debating yet :confused3

I ate there about 5 years ago when I stayed at POFQ. I LOVE creole food and was very much looking forward to it. It was just okay. Not bad, but not good enough to make a special trip to it if I'm not staying at POR or POFQ. That said, if I was staying there, I would go to it again.

Ive had a decent meal at Tony's. If given the choice I would go with Boatwrights every time. Not so much because Tony's is bad but because I love the style of food at Boatwright's better. I think what really matters is whether you want to leave MK and head to the resort for dinner.

As others have said, I was pleasantly surpised and I am a Hard Core Foodie. QUITE surprised at how good the Prime Rib was. None of the desserts are made in house, so they are disappointing.

_I_ would not go out of my way to eat there, but if in the neighborhood, I would be certain to stop by!

Unfortunately the out-sourcing of desserts is happening all over Disney -- due mainly to the popularity of the DPP..

Our Ratings of Boatwrights: (9/12/2012)
. . . food price value: C
. . . food quality: D
. . . food quantity per serving: B
. . . food prep speed: B
. . . food selection: C
. . . seating quantity: C
. . . seating comfort: C
. . . eatery atmosphere: C
. . . eatery convenience: B
. . . staff friendliness: C
. . . staff attentiveness: C
. . . character interaction: n/a

NOTE: Boatwrights used to get good reviews, but over
the past two years has really gone down hill in the food
quality department. In our opinion, it is below average. The
Prime Rib and VooDoo Chicken were both voo-doo hoo-doo.
However, we did enjoy the Blackened Fish Fillet. For dessert,
the Banana Foster Angel Food Cake was heavenly. Convenient
for the resort guests, but not highly recommended. If staying
at POR, we do recommend walking to POFQ for the food court.
