4 Night Wonder out of Miami (update 3/1-Complete)
Welcome to my latest adventure. It was a four night cruise on the Disney Wonder.
Dates: 1/24 – 1/28/13 The players: My mother Jeanette, and myself Pam http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013001.jpg I’m on the left and Mom is on the right This was our second cruise and the first time on the Wonder. Our first cruise took place on the Dream last March so there was a lot of comparing going on when we got on the Wonder. We are definitely hooked on DCL. I’m thinking this will be more of an abridged TR focusing mainly on pictures, but please forgive me if I start to get long winded which does tend to happen from time to time. The cruise left from Miami but flights were cheaper into Fort Lauderdale so we went the cheaper route and flew into FLL. We still needed to get to the Port of Miami and thanks to the DIS I learned about SAS, a transfer company based out of Fort Lauderdale. For $15 each person we could get to the Port of Miami and the same back to FLL at the end of the cruise. We were both impressed with the Port of Miami. From reports I guess I was expecting something run down and dirty, but it was rather nice. A little small for the crowds waiting to board but it had some beautiful sculptures that I managed to miss taking photos of. We were able to use the Silver Castaway Club member line for the first time and didn’t have to wait at all. It was less than fifteen minutes later that we were boarding the ship. Mom had found Minnie and we took that photo while waiting to board. The terminal http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013003.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013002.jpg Mom was excited! http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013004.jpg Look at all that fruit being loaded up. I’m amazed how much food they prepare each day. http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013005.jpg Walking to the ship http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013007.jpg I was a little nervous that I wouldn’t like the atrium since it is much smaller than the Dream’s but there was no need to worry, it was gorgeous! http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013008.jpg The chandelier was absolutely amazing http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013009.jpg Instead of going straight to lunch we first went upstairs to grab me a beverage. Yes, you can get beverages at lunch, but I needed to change our Palo reservation and wanted to do that right at 12:30. I had booked Palo for the last night of the cruise but as it turns out that would be the only night we would be at Tritons and definitely did not want to miss it. Of course I took pictures on the way. http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013010.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013011.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013012.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013013.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013014.jpg A little splash area for the kids. The one on the Dream is much bigger and under shade. http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013015.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013016.jpg This is the heavenly Quiet Cove adult only pool area. http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013018.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013023.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013019.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013020.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013021.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013022.jpg http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013025.jpg Two hot tubs are there as well http://i1082.photobucket.com/albums/...ary2013026.jpg The Quiet Cove on the Dream does not even compare to this. This is completely open to the sun whereas the one on the Dream is quite closed in and is covered in shade a lot of the day. |
