Parasailing on CC

:)

Had the dolphin excursion booked and kids want to do the parasailing now. Has anyone done this and is it really worth it? They say you are up in the air for approx 5-7 minutes, is that true or does it seem longer? Also can you take water cameras with you while your up in the air or should my DH who is doing it also with our x3kids take the pictures from the boat. I think the pictures from up to would be breathtaking:banana::banana::banana:

My husband did it a few years back and loved it.

They had a problem getting the chute to go up right due to wind for about 30 minutes. So when people finally got up in the air, then brought them right back down.

This was a fathers day gift for my husband so he didnt know he was suppose to have 5 to 7 minutes airtime or he would have complained or asked for his money back. He had about 3 minutes. He didn tknow he was even going to parasail until 10 minutes before he was to report to the dock!!

Now the last lady to go up knew how much time she was suppose to get and she had been timing everyone. So when it came to her she flat out told the tour guides she paid for her 5 to 7 minutes and she wanted all 7 minutes and she would be timing them. So she got all 7 minutes.

Why she didnt tell everyone else so they could enjoy the full time I dont know. Sure wish she would of done so.

I think they wanted to make up for the time they blew at first with the wind problems by cutting everyones time short. That is not acceptable!!

Everyone accept my husband went to Guest services and did a huge complaint about that and got refunded.

So wait to go until towards the end, time the others to make sure they are getting their full time and them make sure if they arn't to tell them you want your full time.

I do believe they now have a different company who does the parasailing than back then, but make sure to keep an eye on the time, just in case.

I would say take photos from above. Be sure and have a wrist strap because if you drop it up there you wont get it back!!

My kids did this for their bday in November and loved it- much more than the jet skis. My son took a camera up with him but I haven't had the pics developed yet.

I have done this a couple of times at CC and we're booked for it on our upcoming cruise. I loved it!!! Very cool experience, great views of the ship and the ocean! I think it was well worth it. Take a waterproof disposable camera, you'll get some great photos!

i did this myself on our Fantasy NYE cruise this year and loved every minute of it so much i toild my DW that i want to do it again in sept. when we go again :cool1: i took a water proof digital camera and took video and pics the staff was great and made you feel comfortable if you have kids they will let you double up when you go up if you want also when you come back down they give you the option if you want to get dipped in the water i suggest it !

I did it this week and it was so worth it. Before going I was nervous about how it would work. I thought it would be really windy up there or it would be really fast moving to get into the air. Wrong. It was sooo smooth and relaxing. Go for the dip for sure, we only got our toes wet but I am glad we did.

Not sure if this is the norm, or just happened on all three of our cruises.... book the earlier times... all the later times got cancelled due to conditions/wind. ??

I want to do this one SO bad but won't get to. My little one wants to do it and will be 3 mo shy of his 8th birthday and I'm not going to go knowing he can't. *sigh* :sad1: It looks really fun though

:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for the replies. I will definately time the excursion, I want my full 5-7 minutes up in the air. Scootch we have the afternoon one booked because the kids want to sleep in. What season did you go when the afternoon one's were cancelled? Were any in early March. Our cruise is for March 10 sail away. I will change it if that is the norm!!! I hate to miss it if the wind starts to p/u.

We just did this in August, with our dds. They are 9 and 12. We each went up with a child, and we have 2 waterproof digital cameras, so we took photos from up top and down on the boat.
The views of the Cruise ship are amazing from up there, and my dds LOVED it! They were amazed at how smooth it was and how clear the water was.
We had a blast and I would definitely do it again.
Sorry to the PP whose child is shy of the age restriction...could you do it at another port? (Maybe on your own?)

My DD want to do this (tandem with me). She is old enough but the excursion says people must be at least 90 pounds and she is not even close. Is it 90 pounds alone or would our weight be ok since we plan to go together? Thanks!

jacobsmommy 01-19-2013 06:00 PM

I was wondering the same thing. My nine year old would love it but he is not 90 pounds. I figured I'd go with him, but is that ok?

i did it with my 9YO daughter on our August cruise....we had a ball...i am usually afraid of heights but this was a lot of fun....

don't forget to bring cash to tip the guys- i did and was kind of embarrassed...

My DD13 and I did this last March, in tandem, and it was a beautiful view of Castaway Cay and the ship. We went in the afternoon and had no wind issues. I did not see anyone give the driver or his assistant any tips and I know I didn't, so I can't comment on that. I hope you have a great time on this excursion.

I went up tandem with my 8 year old who only weighs 50 lbs. We had a great time.
