Just lost my motivation somewhere between Disneyland and Seattle. Does anyone have any motivation to share?

I have fallen off the exercise wagon and I need a swift kick to get back in.

Just do it!!!:banana: Don't be embarassed, and don't be disappointed! I'm not sure what your goals are, but I can tell you that they're attainable. You've just got to soldier on and make it happen. We're here for you, and I believe in you! :cheer2:

I can relate except with us it is "shock and awe".

No matter what your tipping point is beginning lifestyle changes is hard.

My advice, look forward & celebrate little successes. So you fell off the wagon, climb back in and go exercise today.:)

Every one of us started somewhere and had a rude awakening (at least once!). There are times I look at myself and say "How did I let this happen?" and even long into my fitness journey, I still have those days. The important thing is getting up on the horse and keep going!!

What you did in the past can't be changed but what you do going forward can change everything. Even small changes are worthwhile. Even small steps get you closer to the goal. Even small victories should be celebrated. YOU ARE WORTH IT!!!!!!!

I've been there, and here's what I've found...Just my two cents worth.
 
Negatives and self-punishment are very poor motivators. In fact, it's the reason why so many change efforts fail. That being said, sometimes, it is hard to find the real reason to make changes other than avoiding negatives. Think about why you wish to make a lifestyle change. If the answer is "Because I'm so disgusted with myself", well, that may head you straight toward your favorite cookies and ice cream to salve your wounded feelings. Also, if the goal is too tied to single event, "I'm a size 22 and I want to fit in a size 10 dress by next Christmas", it may hardly seem "worth it" for that one single event that is so far off into the future compared to the immediate joy of the hot fudge sundae sitting in front of you. If the answer is, "I love my life--I want to live as long and as healthy as I can", well, now you're onto something!

Thank you for the great advice. I was just talking about it with a friend. I don't think I am motivated for the wrong reasons. I just let excuses get in the way. Sick kids, doctor appointments, school schedules, work. I need to make time for myself and get back into.
It just seems such a huge fall from where I was.

It's just a little disheartening to make it so far and then to have to go back. Like I took 5 steps forward, only to take 10 steps back.

What gets me back on the wagon is the realization that I can no longer do what I was able to do before. I'm not even 30 yet so there is no reason for me to not get that back.

In general I found that measuring success by what I can do then my weight is more satisfying.

There's nothing wrong with you though. Everyone has been where you are right now.

When I'm really REALLY down, I listen to the first few episodes of the Running to Disney podcast. The first marathon episode is particularly inspiring. I love it because he is a mere mortal, an overweight slowbie just like me, and he finished the marathon. And it just brings out that "Yeeeeeeah! I can do it too! I gotta get to work!" feeling. :)

If you can't find it, try "This Running Life". He refocused the podcast and changed the name after he had a serious lifestyle change. Same guy the whole way through but I still prefer the older episodes. They're more relatable for me at my current stage of life.

I am right there with you, seems life keeps putting up roadblocks.

You gotta make some time for you. It is true if you are no good to you, you really are no good to anyone else. Just find 15-30 minutes if you can. :thumbsup2

I know what you mean. I wish I could say that I started exercising and eating better so I could be healthy but my main motivator right now is Cedar Point. Last year there were a couple rides I couldn't ride because of my weight and there is nothing more embarassing them having to do the walk of shame off the ride platform because the ride harness won't close. This summer they're opening a new coaster and I will be on it.
