Best TS for first night
We won't be going into the parks on arrival day, but want to do a nice TS meal. It will be DH, DD (4 turning 5 on the trip), and myself. We are staying at All Star Movies.

I was thinking Ohana and the fireworks on the beach, but wondered what other suggestions people had. We are going to have the dining plan, so it would need to be a place that takes a credit.

Ps...we are going Dec 3-10, 2013

O'hana is the perfect choice in my opinion!

We are eating at Chef Mickey's on arrival night.. as we do each trip. We think it's a great start to our trip!

Ohana is a good choice. We always do whispering canyon at the wilderness on our arrival night! Enjoy!

Sanaa is a very good meal where you can view the animals while eating (just go while it is light out and request a window table). They start serving dinner at 5. I would go close to 5 as you are going in Dec. and to get a window table without waiting for it the earlier you go the easier to get those tables. We are going to Sanaa for our first dinner on our June honeymoon.

We always eat at Boma (my boys love it!) on arrival night, but we tried Raglan Road this past trip (not on arrival night) and loved it so much we might eat there every arrival night. But all the suggestions so far are great arrival night options!

that's exactly what we are doing our 1st, ressies @ ohana and then walk out on the beach for wishes. can't wait!!

I love 'Ohana as an opening night meal (even with it requiring a credit card guarantee).

There's nothing like saving up your appetite on arrival day, getting good and hungry, then getting stuffed silly at 'Ohana.

Plus, spending some time at the Poly to start your Disney vacation is just so magical (while some of the other deluxe resorts, e.g., GF, WL, and AKL, have a more spectacular lobby area, IMO, the Poly exudes that magical Disney feel more than any resort on property - in that regard, there's nothing that tells my brain, "you're at Disney", more than the vibe - and smell - inside the GCH).

I like Chef Mickey's for an arrival night dinner. It sets the mood for the trip getting us all excited! Also, it's a great way to get those character autographs and not have to wait in line at the parks! ;)

We usually do 'Ohana on our first full day. The first night we usually take the kids to DTD and have dinner at RFC. We'll be doing BB and DQ our first day so we're trying out WGP Cafe this time around. Since we'll be there Easter 'Ohana seemed like the perfect choice for a special dinner the second night! We love it. Depending on how far they're running behind we will watch Wishes from their or from the beach! I think its a perfect choice. Just seeing the Castle lit up always makes me so happy!

Nearest to your hotel and/or a place that allows you to stroll and take in a bit of Disney without entering a Park.

I think 'Ohana is a great choice, but my reason may be different from others. Usually we save 'Ohana until the last meal of the trip after we have had several huge meals and are dragging from a week at the parks. We can barely eat anything by that point and I feel like we never fully appreciate it. It makes so much sense to go on arrival day and treat 'Ohana like its own destination!

On the night we arrive we appreciate staying close, having a great meal, and still getting the Disney feel. Since we usually stay at BC, it's so nice to have the convenience of the BW and WS restaurants just a short walk away... so we do take advantage ot that. Our most recent stay we checked in and got to our room about 6pm, were excited about a 7pm reservation at Vai Napoli where we enjoyed a wonderful and not too expensive first night dinner. Plus, got to bed pretty early after a loooong day, so that was nice!!

Hope you have a great time!

We are doing Chef Mickey's this year - had considered Ohanas - but wanted to drop right into the experience.

Another vote for O'hana's!

While I really agree that Chef Mickey's would be a great way to get in the Disney spirit, I really wasn't impressed with their dinner buffet.

You could always do CM's and then take the monorail over to the Poly to see the fireworks from the beach!
