Are passports enough?

We have passports for everyone including our children. Is that all we need or do I need to pack birth certificates?

If you have passports you will not need birth certificates.

gfamof4 01-13-2013 09:33 AM

Thank you.... That's what I thought, but just wanted to be sure!!!

Passports makes it so easy to board. I can't imagine going without them.

bitlerzx4 01-13-2013 09:47 AM

We didn't have them last time but we are getting them this time only because we want to travel more and they do make it easier.

You don't need a birth certificate with you if you have a passport.

TLSnell1981 01-13-2013 11:09 AM

We use our passports for all travel..foreign and domestic. It IS so much easier.

Let me suggest that you make two photocopies of each passport. Bring one set of photocopies in your luggage, separate from your passport. Leave the other set with someone who has access to a fax machine. If you lose your passports, it is much easier to get replacements if you have the photocopies.

I do this, but also have a copy stored in a folder on my hotmail account, so I can reprint anywhere I can get access to Internet with printer.

This is a great idea. Going to do this for our upcoming cruise.

Do you have the same last name as your children? We gave a new, blended name to our kids and that has caused a problem for us in the past when going through customs at airports. Cruise customs doesn't seem to care, but we've only gone through that checkpoint three times. The US State Department website says a passport is all that is needed, but the agent who stopped us didn't care about official policy.

If we have passports, do we need any other form of ID??

When we came back to port canaveral in June even tho our kids have the same name as us. They asked our son my birthday which of course he didn't know and he's 16 lol

gfamof4 01-14-2013 01:04 PM

Thanks for the suggestions! I have already made multiple copies of our passports. One to bring with us, one for our house and one saved on our computer which I will email to myself before our cruise. GREAT IDEA!!!

Yes....we all have the same last name.
