Weather!

The first time we went to WDW it was in July. It was more then hot for us. This time we will be going in February and I am worried we won't be able to swim. Do the pool stay open? Are they heated? Is it cold there in February? My 6 year old loves to swim and this is a big part of our vacation when we aren't at the parks. We are stay at the new AOA resort.

We went in February a few years ago and it was in the 80's during the days and down to about 70 at night. The pools were open late and we always saw people in them at night. I would imagine that time of the year could be iffy though....but I think you stand a good chance of being able to swim! :goodvibes

We were there during President's week last year and the weather was very nice (high 70s low 80s during the day), until the last night. We took the bus from OKW to WL for dinner and it was warm on the way over, but it must have dropped 20 - 30 degrees while we ate. We were all freezing waiting for the bus back to OKW. So, it can be very nice, or not so nice.

It all depends on what you term as "swimming weather". I've gone in February before and had no problem swimming in the 65-70 degree nighttime weather, but then I'm from pretty far north and 65-70 is a good spring day to me!

I've gone 2 or 3 times at the beginning of February. One time it was around 80 and I wore shorts. Another time it was cold and rainy.

When we went in Feb a few years ago - we FROZE. We are from New England and thought we could handle anything a FL winter could throw at us...we were wrong...and COLD.

We have had anywhere from the 50's to the 80's in late January/Early February. We always consider it a bonus if we can swim comfortably at that time of year. That said, the one year we went it was only warm enough one day our whole trip and another year it was warm enough every day but one. We love that time of year though. Very low numbers in the parks and although park hours are shorter, you can get so much accomplished in a day.:thumbsup2

The weather in February is so variable, there's just no way to know this far in advance what you're going to get. A few years back, my first and only trip in Feb, I was miserable just walking around the theme parks. I spent a heck of a lot of money on layers of warmer clothes in the gift shops, and I desperately wanted mittens. It was misting rain and cold and damp. You couldn't have paid me to get in a swimming pool.

And yet, as others have said, you can get lovely 70s/80s temps.

My 7yo DS will swim in 50 degree weather if the pool is open ; ) The pools are heated, but it can be veeerrrrry cold when you step out of the pool, so consider packing a hooded sweatshirt/sweatpants to throw on over the suit to get back to the room.
