Lunch or dinner for sanaa?
Looking to make a sanaa reservation for jan, and I'm trying to decide which would be better, lunch or dinner? I'm also trying to decide if we are going to tie it in with our ak day, or not. Looking for info, thanks!

Our Ratings of Sanaa: (rev 10/9/12)
. . . food price value: B . . . food quality: B . . . food quantity per serving: B . . . food prep speed: B . . . food selection: C . . . seating quantity: C . . . seating comfort: C . . . eatery atmosphere: B . . . eatery convenience: C . . . staff friendliness: B . . . staff attentiveness: A . . . character interaction: B (views of animals on savannah) NOTE1: Sanaa has good regional African food. Americanized, but definitely more adventurous than other eateries. The menu is shorter than other table service eateries, the wine list average, but the quality of the food and presentation are high. An added benefit is viewing animals on the Savannah during the meal (for daylight hours). There's eight savannah window tables and six more with good views. For lunch, try the Lamb Kefta open face sandwich; for dinner, try the beef and lamb. Don't miss out on the Banana Kulfi Sundae. Get the salad sampler with three of the salads that can feed two people. Be aware that items labeled as "Durban" are highly spiced, and best washed down with cold milk! It is out-of-the-way, but worth the drive. This is only one of the five sit-down eateries we patronize at WDW. NOTE2: We prefer the lunch over the dinner. . . . you can see animals on the savannah . . . the fare is a little lighter . . . the price is better . . . the appys and salads are the same . . . there are fewer people eating |
While I agree with everything that Rusty Scupper has said, I'd like to make a couple more comments.
-we normally eat at Sanaa on an AK day. Transportation-wise, it's just easier to eat there when you're in the neighbourhood, KWIM? -we eat there because of the food, not for the chance to view the animals. So having dinner there (after dark) is not a problem for us. We can see the animals any time in the park or at the resort from the other viewing areas. -AK park hours in January are short and it gets dark early. Going to Kidani House for lunch will take a good chunk out of your park day. So I would either choose to go to Sanaa on a non-park day for lunch or on an AK park day for dinner. |
All good points, thank you! Still undecided...right now I have a dinner booked, may change that to lunch...

African Spiced Chicken Breast
We choose to eat dinner at Sanaa (5:00) last time we ate there because I wanted to try the African Spiced chicken breast that was not on the lunch menu. It was divine! I don't know if they still serve it, as we went in 2011, but it was well worth the trip out there. Also, the bush tea was very good, but I was less than impressed with the Chai cream dessert.
