Cheaper to rent points or pay rack rate for family of 3?
 

Is it cheaper to rent points or pay rack rate for wdw? Thinkin of going back sometime between middle or January 2014 to end of March 2014. We will want to stay at AKL or one of these three epcot resorts: BC, BWI, YC.

Any suggestions?

that is all BWI and YC are not DVC resorts.

now to rack rate definitely and generally to discount rates - just depends.

if you went with a standard view at BWV - it would be definitely.

It depends on what you want and what discounts, if any are available.

Apples to apples renting points would be cheaper than rack rate, also cheaper than some discounts, but once you commit to renting points there is no going back.

there is no housekeeping - just on day 4 trash/tidy and day 8 - you get a completely cleaning

you can not contact MS - you must go thru the member you rented from

for even DME and dinning plans

We rented points for a 2BR villa for a week at BWV in June. It was less than half the rack rate for the same time period. Things to be aware of, though - dates are usually not changeable, payment is generally non-refundable, you are entering into an agreement with a private party (unless you use a broker) and you don't get daily housekeeping.

It worked great for us, and I would do it again.

Not quite. If you stay seven nights or less, you get your trash removed and towels replaced on day 4 with day 1 as check in day. If you stay eight nights or more, you get a full cleaning on day 4 and trash and towel service on day eight.

You generally get one bath towel per sleeping space. DVC does not provide any rollaways or cots.
