"Do They Have Chicken Tenders?"
I'm in the process of planning our Counter Service/Quick Service lunch/dinner meals for our trip in February. I'm an adventurous eater, and my sweet hubby is not. He'll eat chicken tenders, pizza, plain grilled chicken sandwiches, plain turkey sandwiches, plain burgers, plain steak.
I'm looking for suggestions for quick service restaurants in MK, HS, and Epcot. Can you offer me a thumbs up or down on any of these, or make additional suggestions? Magic Kingdom (lunch) Be Our Guest (I really, really want to try this QS. Hoping DH can get the turkey baguette without dijon.) Pinocchio's Columbia Harbour House Epcot (lunch) Sunshine Seasons Katsura Grill (I would like to try this and he likes white rice, but I'm not sure if he would attempt the teriyaki chicken) Hollywood Studios (lunch and/or dinner) Studio Cateering Company Backlot Express Starring Rolls (I might talk everyone into cutting this day short and heading downtown to Earl of Sandwich) Thanks for your suggestions and opinions! |
I don't know about many of those places, but in MK I think you would do really well at Cosmic Rays. It's actually one of our favorite QS places in MK, and usually the one we gravitate to.

Magic Kingdom (lunch)
Be Our Guest (I really, really want to try this QS. Hoping DH can get the turkey baguette without dijon.) --- I'd try for this one. Unless their premade, i dont see why you couldnt get the sanwich without the dijon. Pinocchio's Columbia Harbour House I'd eat at cosmic rays in MK. Pretty good variety of food. Epcot (lunch) Sunshine Seasons Katsura Grill (I would like to try this and he likes white rice, but I'm not sure if he would attempt the teriyaki chicken) ---teryaki chicken is very plain and basic, he wouldnt even eat that? Lol. You know what, try the bakery in france. they have DELISH ham & cheese sandwiches. theyre VERY plain, but oh so tasty! for a QS credit you can get a sanwich (HUGE btw!) plus a pastry and drink. They also have croissant sandwiches. Love this place! Hollywood Studios (lunch and/or dinner) Studio Cateering Company Backlot Express ---- its good, but not exceptional as a pp had mentioned. Starring Rolls ----do you really want another sandwich? Lol. Theyre pretty good thou. (I might talk everyone into cutting this day short and heading downtown to Earl of Sandwich) ---yet another sandwich. lol. Are you on the DP? If so, i highly recommend WGPE (marketplace location). By far the best meals ive ever had. Meatloaf, pizza, chicken fingers, spagetti & meatballs. ALL INCREDIBLE and a great value on the DP (cause it aint cheap!). For EoS I would pay OOP thou. I wouldnt use the DP. |
We're on the dining plan! Thanks for the suggestions so far. As for ham and cheese, he is not a fan of ham, or cheese added to a sandwich.
So funny that you'd comment on 'yet another sandwich' as sometimes I don't know how he does it eating such little variety. He's a great guy, though, and I love him lots, so I want to make sure our bases are coved and everyone is happy. I think at Epcot well do the Katsura grill and like figment suggested have DH get something at Liberty and come over to the garden to eat. We have arrangements to eat with Chip and Dale for dinner that night so we just need the lunch there :) Going to go for the turkey at Be Our Guest in MK too. I think I might have to write a dining report after this one for sure! Edited to add that we ate at Cosmic Rays last time and while it was okay, I'd like to try different options on my 2nd ever trip to WDW :) |

Just wanted to mention that at Starring Rolls the sandwiches are premade so your hubby can't get them plain. Might be better to skip that one

Suggest you look at the menu for Plaza Restaurant in MK also, might find something he will like. Does he like hotdogs?..Casey's Corner also at MK. Can't go wrong with Sunshine Seasons at Epcot either, lot's of choices.

Enjoy your trip! |
Most places will leave off anything you ask them to. Like cheese or dijon. Sometimes the people preparing your food automatically make the sandwich the usual way. Which is a pain but you can get it any way you want it most places. I always ask for hamburger, no cheese. No honey mustard etc. I am very picky too and believe me I eat plenty! :rotfl2: Sunshine Seasons has some good choices. The pork chop minus the sauce and 1/2 chicken both with mash potato. Never tried Pinocchio or CHH. At studios I get the italian sandwich from Catalina Eddies ( i think) w/o the pesto stuff. I use mustard. At WPE I get the rotissere chicken and fries. The fries are shoestring style and yummy. He will be fine! :goodvibes

Oh! In EPCOT at the beginning of WS if you takea right heading towards Canada. There is a place that used to be Mcdonalds. Next to a small restroom area. I can't think of its name. It is small with limited bench seats but they have a crispy fried chix sandwich. It comes with cheese and some kind of gross sauce but DS and I both got it plain. It was great and BIG. The chix was too big for the roll. :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you for helping me narrow our choices, everyone!
I think for sure we're going to try BoG on our MK day, and head to Sunshine Seasons or Japan/US for lunch at Epcot depending on where in the park we are that day. For HS I'm kind of hoping we'll be finished before lunchtime and can return to Poly for capt cooks. I'm going to shuffle around my ADR s so we have the character breakfast at Ohana on our HS day so we'll have a good, hardy breakfast that day and hopefully not need to eat a meal at HS at all since the reviews are generally less than stellar. Can't wait to write my dining report! Just 102 days to go now! |

Just be aware that the chicken terriyaki comes with pink ginger on top of it. Will that freak him out? it is chicken thigh meat also. I'm not a fan of it so I usually eat a few bites and give the rest to my DH. I scarf the rice in the sauce though!
Mexico is a good choice, the kids meal quesadilla is plain, chips and cheese or salsa, and the pizza at via napoli looks yummy. I think the burgers at electric umbrella are disgusting and greasy so I stay away from them. |
