I am sorta on the fence with this. Given the choice I would much rather see something original, but Disney does have a long history of duplicating the signature attractions.

The movies may not have been the greatest, but I will say having visited it, Cars land in DCA is pretty amazing.

Despite their mediocre box office success the Cars franchise is Disney's most profitable due to merchandising, so the motivation to bring it to DHS is obvious.

The issue is that it IS DCA's signature attraction. Bringing it to DHS would no longer make it a real signature attraction as there is a clone of it somewhere else.

I am also upset. Was hoping for the Racers or something Cars related BUT I wanted other pixar stuff, instead of just a straight clone of the whole land. Seems kinda silly, if the whole point of Cars Land was to drive attendance at DCA. /sigh.

Actually after hearing about the ideas for Avatar land, I was more looking forward to that.

Have no idea how it will all pan out but I know that one of the Doctors that works with me says the one in Disneyland was awesome ::yes::

I'm personally pretty excited if this is true. Cars Land looks amazing and if it's brought to WDW, then we have a good chance of seeing it while my son is still Cars obsessed. Heading to DL is not financially feasible for us as we're on the East Coast.

I live on the east coast too. It's actually about the same price to fly to California as it is to Florida. With that knowledge is it something you're still excited for?

Yes, going to Florida is still more feasible for us personally than California when you take into consideration other factor such as time off work, flight time, etc. I could easily take my son to Florida for a weekend to see CL if I desired; California not so much

Time is a more valid point though. Either way I still think the most interesting part of the article was about the Vekoma motorbike coaster for Avatarland.

If that is true it has a significant chance to be amazing. Than again knowing disney Oger's gonna cut it :sad:

Agreed. Living on the east coast makes it difficult to get to CA unless you have 7-10 days to make it worth it.

ASSteelers, I am guessing you are around Pittsburgh. Flights around Boston are not the same. It would cost me $650 more to fly to CA with my family right now. I can fly to FL for $107/pp out of Manchester, NH.

Cost or no, I think adding Carsland or any Pixar areas to DHS is a great idea. This will bring more family oriented activities for families and should help increase attendance and spread the crowds some. If it is succesful, it may also help get additional Pixar properties.

I can understand the sentiment of not wanting a clone from another park coming to WDW. However, like the other "east coast" posters, that would not be something preventing me from visiting DCA/DL. What will keep me from visiting DL/DCA is the same thing that has kept me from visiting there up to now - the fact that it is on the opposite side of the country. I've always felt the next time I'm out west, if I can somehow get in a trip to DL, I would certainly make every effort to do so. However, I don't forsee myself taking a trip to California just for DL...not when I have WDW 1/3 of the distance away.

What they'll end up doing is making a second rate version of what they have in Disneyland, just like they did with Pirates, Space Mt, and Haunted Mansion.

I said it wasn't financially feasible for me, which is true. Time is money for me. I'm an independent contractor, so there are no paid days off. Like I posted previously, if I wanted to I could head to Florida for a weekend - resulting in less hotel expense, less food expense, etc. So it's all relevant, IMO :)

I haven't checked flight prices, but for our upcoming trip to Orlando, I was able to secure round trip direct flights for $211. I'm not sure if I could get a similar to deal to CA (then again, I haven't tried)

I showed my 3 y/o a video of Cars Land last night and I can't begin to tell you how excited he was! Which of course, makes me very excited that it's coming within reach. When we went to DHS last year, he was over the moon just to stand next to McQueen, he could barely contain himself, LOL

I can completely agree with Pirates and SM, but the Mansion? Far superior in WDW.

Back on topic:

The "It's a clone" and the "The source material sucked (aka Avatarland)" argument never held a lot of weight with me.

I don't think adding cloned attractions to WDW would cannibalize another parks attendance. It may make DCA slight less special for WDW vets but I don't think any DLR regulars will enjoy Carsland less because it also exists elsewhere.

While having strong source material makes it easier to create a great attraction, it's not integral in making a great attraction. Waterworld is one of the most panned movies in history but the USH show is one of most critically acclaimed.

First, Calling me an *** is just immature on your part. Secondly If you look at my summary you'd know i live in upstate New York. Flights are expensive where I am. 1.5 times the amount of money you posted.

Lastly, It just makes Disney super hypocritical. They cut funding to DCA making it a half-day park. They FINALLY spend money on a signature attraction to raise attendance and then you make the exact same thing somewhere else. It kind of ruin's the point of trying to increase DCA's attendance.
