Finally got around to it! Photo TR of 1st Med cruise 2010
Well I was going to do a full TR but this cruise seemed so hectic and I never seemed to have time to write notes. So as I took quite a few photos I figured I would just post those with a quick explanation.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer - can't believe we've been back a month already.
We are Becx and Gav - Becky and Gavin. We flew from Stanstead in the UK to Barcelona on the day we boarded the ship, we would have liked to go earlier but couldn't get the time off work.
Here's all our stuff (we paid extra for two checked in bags and despite doing laundry twice! we wore most of what we took)
Looks like we had company already :goodvibes Kate and Charlotte (2 UK Diser's who couldn't come)
After all the cancelled flights in the days before we were so happy to be able to catch our original flight, I'm so glad we didn't have to go by train or drive :sad2:
Check in was pretty quick and we were soon through, we spotted a very Spanish looking Mickey and I had to get a photo :goodvibes
We booked a Cat 12 Gty and got upgraded to a Cat 9 :woohoo: We loved all the space.
The view from the stateroom window
Then it's time for the lifeboat drill
Our door and FE
Me and the flatties
I love all the art work around the ship
Our first dinner was at Animators Palate - our rotation was APLAPLAPLAP and we were on the late seating.
I took this because everyone (there were 7 of us) at dinner was on their iPhone except me - I don't have one!
The menu and the flatties
Food porn time :teeth:
I can't remember who had what so I'll just post everything!
Salad with bacon and beans
Pork with roasted veg
Fish on top of a pea puree
Every steak was totally different that night and not everyone had it cooked as they asked
I ordered the green lentil risotto but they brought out the seafood one and I don't eat sea food - so I had to wait a bit :sad2:
It finally came
We skipped dessert as the sail away party was about to begin, we had asked our servers to bring things out quite quickly so we could make the party and they tried their best but I think everyone had the same plan.
The sail away party was good fun but quite late in the evening so there weren't that many people there (I know we were really tired as we had to get up at 4.30am Barcelona time to make our flights)
The first full day - a sea day.
We started with our character breakfast. It was ok but the characters were really quick and didn't stay long at our table, maybe because we were 4 adults but I don't think they should treat you differently if you don't have kids. The dining room didn't seem very busy either so we were a bit annoyed.
Chip and me
and with Gav
It was quite hard to get a good picture as the characters would hardly stand still
Me and Mickey
Gav and Mickey
Emiel, Goofy and Gav
Me, Goofy and Yvet
My breakfast was pancakes with bacon and sausage
Gav had a bit of everything!
Then we were given some rather fetching hats :goodvibes
Pluto and me
Emiel, Pluto and Gav
Dale was looking for food but I'd eaten all mine
No food left here either
Minnie and me

Thanks for your update - lovely photos - assume more to come - really look forward to it.
You were sooooooooooooo lucky with your upgrade.
I have booked the secret porthole room for our first cruise and not sure if people get upgrades from this type of room :confused3 Fingers crossed.
Thanks for posting! Loving all your pictures. :thumbsup2
THanks for posting the photos. Brings back lots of lovely memories! Hope you got home alright!
Great photos .... love the story so far !
Lovely photos and lovely smiles...
I'm sure all rooms could be upgraded (although I knwo some people like to stay where they booked) I was suprised how many upgrades there were - good luck to you, but even if you don't get one I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time :wizard:
Fab start! Looking forward to reading more!
The flatties up on deck
And in the hot tub :goodvibes
Checking out Pete's new iPad
As it was a sea day Lumiere's had a brunch menu, I wasn't all that hungry so I had the crepes - with cherry
I think this was an omelette with has browns and sausage
Eggs benedict with salmon
Some sort of sandwich (I really should have taken notes!)
We then went to Studio Sea for the first of Disney's Art of Entertaining - the appetiser. I would have liked to have gone to the others but we missed them.
It was good, I personally didn't eat it as it was tuna but the wine was nice. The chef showed us how it was made and then everyone got a plate and a glass of wine.
The sommelier then told us about the wine they had paired with the dish
The dish was Island Spice Seared Ahi Tuna
The had the recipie available to take away with you.
You got a reasonable amount of wine
Thi afternoon Gav and I tried the margarita and tequila tasting. They told us all about the different varieties and what to look for.
These are on each table, one each and they have the tequilas and margaritas
The margarita recipies
And then onto the margaritas
This was Fernando who we had previously met in Cove Cafe (we went there a lot :rotfl:) - despite it being his first time he did a really good job.
Really enjoying the photos!
Thanks again for further updates. I love the "loads of photos" trip reports - makes you feel you are actually there and what you can get when you go :goodvibes
We've been tossing around the idea of doing a Med cruise next summer, so I'm really enjoying seeing all of your pictures! Looking forward to more!
