DDP for all?

We are in WDW from December 28-January 2.
4 of us are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge and have purchased the DDP.
The other 4 are staying at DVC Jambo House. We have not yet decided whether to purchase the DDP.

All of our ADRs have been made for a group of 8.

The questions are:

1. will there be any problem with 4 people at the table being on DDP and 4 being out of pocket?

2. What if one of the out of pocket people (that would be me) tends to order an app or 2 rather than an entree (gotta have room for dessert)?

It's not a problem, the waiter will ring up 4 meals on the DP and the other 4 can split the cost of their check. Who ever orders apps can let the waiter know which check to put it on.

Some restaurants will allow Dining Plan Guests to order an appetizer in place of/as their entree. You get just the appetizer portion, and it's an even exchange.

I have a friend who (not on dining plan) ordered four side dishes at Kouzzina at her meal. The restaurants don't care (if you are paying oop). If you are on the dining plan, you might not be able to order like that. As the previous poster said you might be able to trade your entree for one appetizer, but definitely not for two or more.

::MinnieMo Just remember if your party is not all paying by the same method, to tell your server that you are paying separately and who goes on which check. This can save you a WHOLE lot of time at the end because if they rung you all up together they then need to void it and re-do the checks, which usually needs a manager to authorise, and the manager sometimes needs to be found .........!

Thanks for that reminder....at that time of year I certainly don't want to spend more time with dinner than necessary!
