Very First Trip Report - Day Zero!

I should have known that to give DH any packing responsibilities was asking for trouble, and sure enough when you join our story, the night before we leave, you find a house in chaos!

I was merrily making an autograph book cover and printing off useful pieces of information etc when DH informs me that the video camera (one of the things on his very short list) only has 40 minutes space left on it! This means 10 minutes per day – not quite enough for our first trip to Disneyland I think to myself! This would not be a big problem were it not for the fact that the docking station for downloading the videos is currently in an unknown location, i.e. LOST! :scared1: So, there now begins much frantic searching of cupboards, drawers, boxes, etc, etc, but to no avail.

And so the morning dawns very early for me as I have still not starting the packing, in fact, I still haven’t finished the ironing!! While I plough on through my lengthy packing list DH decides to see how much time he can free up on the camera by deleting things. Now either he has wiped off all the important events, birthdays, Christmases, etc or he really does video a lot of old tosh because before I knew it he’d made 40 minutes into 3 hours! :confused3

Eventually, everything is packed and we head off to the station for our journey to London.

We start off with the journey spotting list game with DD and manage to see boats and a bus before she is sick and falls asleep. She sleeps from Southampton until Clapham Junction – waking up in time to see Big Ben and the London Eye (or Ferris Wheel as she calls it!)

We took a taxi to our hotel, the Premier Inn at Kings Cross which was ideal, close to the station, lovely room and a restaurant downstairs! We had pre-paid for the meal deal which was 20 per person and included a starter, main course, drink and full breakfast in the morning. DH ordered garlic flatbread with cheese and chicken caesar salad, I had prawn cocktail and steak & chips and we both had red wine to drink, we ordered DD a pizza, fruit salad & ice cream and a glass of milk. She ate two mouthfuls of pizza and the ice cream.

I should mention that all the staff here were wonderful! Happy, helpful and friendly!

After dinner we dosed DD up with Calpol and said our prayers that she would be well enough to travel in the morning...

Well her certainly managed to wipe off over two hours - I haven't looked yet to see what's gone! Hopefully it's all the rubbish he filmed on previous holidays that he thought was interesting and in fact wasn't!! :rotfl2:

:lmao: Great start, that really made me laugh out loud, this is how most of our holidays usually start too although this time Phil was able to download most of the stuff on our tapes onto cd so we have about 3 blank tapes, hope its enough!!

Am going to go read more :)

It has been 7 months and we still have not put our pictures in the autograph book. We took about 500 pictures and dred searching through them. We did not do any video but maybe we will next time.
