Photography Board's Monthly Assignment, September, 09 - Show Me Two!

Nice participation on last month's assignment. :thumbsup2

For this month's I thought we'd try something simple and fun - Show Me Two!

For this assignment, there should be two pictures that are "related", but different from eachother. How you differ them is up to you.

Let's see how creative we can get! Remember that the idea is to get out and use your camera so these should be new pictures. Post as many as you like!

Great topic! Have my wheels turning as well....camping for the Labor Day weekend, maybe I'll get something good while we're there.

Reality and abstract of the same subject.

I see this image as the door to heaven. Lake Michigan is actually on the other side of the building.

This image is of the same building reflected in a parking lot puddle. The large UFO is a storm drain in the parking lot.

Old Houses

I have some better ideas but today I went out and practiced with my non-metering manual focus 50mm f1.4. Went to one of our local landmarks, the Stage Coach Museum which has a hotel from the late 1800's. The also have recreations of local Chumash Indians that lived in the area as well as artifacts from the original settlers.

Not to go too OT (but this is a discussion thread as well, right?) but I've got to ask. Roger, how did you find using a non-metering lens on the D90? Fairly easy and straightforward? Not worth the effort?

I have been looking at an AIS lens and one of the main reasons I haven't purchased it yet is because it won't meter with the D90. It doesn't sound too difficult---more trial and error than anything---but it has still been bugging me none the less.
