The only discounts DCL offers are when a cruise isn't selling as well as they like, they might offer (after the Paid in Full date) military/Florida resident/or Cast Member rates. They also might offer what they call last-minute restricted fares. But you never know when, or for how long they will be offered.

Generally the best price for any given cruise is on opening day. As the space onboard fills, prices rise. For those last minute fares, while they are often lower than the prevailing rate, the usually are more than opening day prices.

We've sailed with Princess, Holland America and Carnival. I'd book any of those again. And prices on those lines are often less for the same cruise/room. But they aren't Disney.

As PP mentions, the only discounts or special offers are likely to be fairly close to the sail date (usually with 75 days). Typical cruise pricing structure has fares increasing in "tiers" which means after a certain number or percent of rooms are booked the fares increase, then again, etc.

DCL does not allow any travel agent or company to discount the fares, so you will find the same price anywhere. Many people do like to book with a TA who offers an onboard credit or other perks; not all TAs do.

Enjoy your cruise!

Good info, lanejudy. Over the years I've seen a lot of specials, generally for targeted groups such as military, pass holders, Florida residents, and other groups. Also, of course, they discount fares as a cruise date approaches and rooms remain unsold.

As for TA discounts, they do exist, they are just disguised as onboard credits, but they do lower your total cost. Generally I've seen these credits are inversely proportional to the quality of service...TAs who will only deal with you via email tend to offer more, and those who will talk with you and help you plan your cruise tend to offer less. Fair enough.

But, as for the (apparent) large discounts on other lines, I haven't seen Disney offer them for a while. We book as early as we can, and have always seen the price increase.
