Specialty Dining on Oasis

I'm perusing the cruise planner for our first RCCI cruise in March, which is on Oasis. Several questions...

1. Is there any way to pre-book the speciality dining and use your onboard credit to pay for the fees? We'll have about $150 OBC to use so I don't really want to shell out money in advance to pay for the fees, but would like to still take advantage of reserving these restaurants in advance.

2. On the Chops menu, am I reading this right? I see $42 per person to dine there and then if you order the porterhouse, it's another $19 in addition to that. So if DH and I dine there and each order the porterhouse, we can expect to pay about $120?

3. Do the cruise compasses show what the menu is in the MDR is each night? Or is there a way to see this on the Cruise Planner? Trying to plan our speciality reservations around the meals we may not be interested in at the MDR.

4. Will the cruise compasses show our breakfast and lunch options each day? Do you need reservations for any specialty restaurants for breakfast and/or lunch?

1. I don't believe you are actually charged for the restaurants until that night. So, it would just go to your shipboard account.

2 Correct

3 Originally, this was my response ---We get the menus in our room daily (we are on board right now) but that might be just a suite thing --. but it turns out that what I thought were menus was actually the in-room dining menu.

4 yes. I'm not aware of any location that requires reservations for breakfast.

OKW Lover--We never received a menu during cruise in our Junior Suite (SEA) last week so I presume you must be SKY or STAR. I see you are approaching Falmouth as I type this. ENJOY
Yes, we are SKY.

For the others, I stand corrected. I looked closer at what I thought were the menus and it turns out they are only what we can order for in-room dining. Sorry for the misinformation above.

When we book the specialty restaurants we were asked to provide a credit card at the time of booking and it was charged. Our OBC didn't show up available to be used until a few months after the booking window opened.

I remember on the Allure we were able to browse the menus via the television. Is this the same on Oasis?

So how is your suite???? We will be in Grand Suite 7660.

p.s.--I have a unique special request favor to ask if you don't mind. We were at the frozen yogurt machine area top side on Tuesday last week when A VERY WICKEDLY HIGH WIND GUST blew my 2013 IRONMAN FLORIDA FINISHER hat off. It went over the railing into the Central Park area and I was unable to get to the railing to watch it fall. DW and I continued to look for it during the rest of the cruise and we also checked with Guest Services (Lost and Found) constantly to see if someone brought it to Lost and Found, but no luck. There is a possibility it might have landed in an unoccupied room balcony and maybe someone on your cruise might have turned it in. Is there any chance you might be able to check with Guest Services to see if a WHITE IRONMAN baseball type cap has been turned in? Our cabin last week was 7230 and I bet if you ask them they might even remember our constant appearances checking on the cap.

THANK YOU AND ENJOY!!! John VN

On the Allure in June we were able to see the menus for the MDR for the week on the touch-screens by the elevators.

A great source for info on menus and schedules is the Royal Caribbean Blog - Matt, who runs it, is familiar to many in the DIS community for his former role on WDW today. It's a wealth of great info. the RCL board on Cruise Critic is also very helpful.

So how is your suite???? We will be in Grand Suite 7660.
We really like our Grand Suite. We are a few decks higher but similar location. Very, very convenient to the mid-ship elevators. Elevator up to the Coastal Kitchen (good breakfasts, lunch and dinners) and Suite lounge.

Will ask about the hat and let you know.

THANK YOU very much!!! :worship: The 140.6 mile triathlon took me 13:31:48 to complete at age 63.

7th deck and mid-ship worked great especially since the seas were rough until St. Thomas plus it was only 2 sets of stairs down to the track for my 4AM deck jaunt. Tried CK one night for dinner and liked it but I will admit we like the lounge arrangement on the DREAM better. Deck 6 and 7 aft provides a different perspective when viewing the Oasis of the Seas Aqua Theater water show at night.

Cruise Planner is prompting me for CC info to book specialty dining and I'm under the impression it will charge my credit card now, as opposed to the night of like some other posters have mentioned. OBC is not an option for me in Cruise Planner, and I'm about 100 days out from sailing. Might I still be too early or does OBC not come available for everyone to book with prior to the cruise? The Disney planner in me hates rolling the dice until we're onboard to book!

Our OBC from RCL didn't show up until about 45 days prior to the cruise IIRC. So to book things prior to that it was provide a CC which was charged right away.
