2 Guns found by security this week.

Two in one day and both didn't have permits seems fishy to me.

If they had permits would they have been released with a warning. I didn't know that you could be charged like they were but I guess carrying a concealed gun when not permitted would be a against the law.

Two in one day that got caught. I wonder just how many people are walking around WDW with concealed weapons.

FWIW, when dh and I were ther back in Sept, they had everyone go through the metal detectors at IG.

Not false, name and all details have been released, link above.

Alabama woman had a loaded pistol in her backpack Monday when she tried to enter Disney's Animal Kingdom, officials say.

Baleigh Turner, 23, was the second person accused of trying to bring a concealed weapon into one of Disney's parks that day, jail records show.

Disney has a strict policy prohibiting guns from their theme parks and resorts.

Deputies said Turner once held a permit to carry a concealed weapon in Alabama, but it expired in January. Even with a permit, guns aren't allowed in Disney parks.

She was arrested on a charge of carrying a concealed firearm, according to an arrest report.

A Disney employee found Turner's weapon — a purple and black .380 caliber Taurus pistol — while checking her backpack about 11 a.m. at the entrance to Animal Kingdom. Deputies said the gun was in a holster and loaded with a six-round magazine.

Turner initially said she had a permit to carry the gun in Alabama, but couldn't show deputies a copy of it. After realizing a deputy had checked with Alabama officials, Turner then handed over the expired permit, the arrest report states.

Earlier Monday morning, deputies arrested a 61-year-old Louisiana man who tried to enter Epcot with a pistol strapped to his waist. A Disney security officer found Michael Langston's gun after selecting him for a random metal detector screening, prompting him to disclose the weapon, an arrest report states. He was arrested on a charge of carrying a concealed firearm.

Disney officials refused to comment Wednesday about the incidents.

All guests with bags at the four Florida Disney theme parks go through screening, but only randomly selected guests go through metal detectors.

Jail records show both Turner and Langston bailed out of the Orange County Jail after each posting a $2,000 bond.

Thank you wilkeliza, you stated it exactly. No more to be said. Not a gun owner myself( young children in the house) but I agree to responsible people owning guns. And like you stated RESPONSIBLE.

I don't currently own because the city I live it makes it almost impossible but since I chose to live in this city I have my hunting guns back to my brothers. I am not against the right to carry or own (I grew up in south Texas after all) but I will always be vocal about responsible gun ownership.

Here is just a quick description of FL Law, dont want to get too into it because its a very sticky topic..... (mind you this for people who have LEGAL carry licenses for FL)

FL Law outlines where you CAN and CAN NOT carry your Firearm. Disney World is NOT on that list.

Since Disney is private property, if they find you have a firearm they can ask you to leave and you must obey.

If you have a legal carry license you CAN NOT be arrested for just entering Disney property with your firearm. However, when they ask you to leave and you dont then you can
be arrested for "trespassing with a firearm" which is a 3rd degree felony.

Most of theses news stories you read about people being arrested at Disney is either because they DID NOT have a valid carry license or they refused to leave property. That is where you get into trouble.

Actually up until last year I believe you were allowed to check your firearm with Disney Security before entering the park. They have since gotten rid of that.

Carrying a gun you are not permitted for is a crime.
Carrying a gun you are permitted for onto private property that is posted as not allowing guns I'm not sure about. I'm not sure if that would be considered a criminal offence or just be up to the property to enforce the same way that wearing a obviously sexual t shirt would be up to disney to enforce.

Apparently I posted a bit late and the previous poster before me already answered this. Thanks Spridell!

so yeah if I had a licence to carry and wanted to all I would have to do is just try to carry. If I get selected for the metal detector I show my licence and say "Oh sorry didn't realize I wasn't allowed to carry here" and I leave and go put my gun away before coming back to the park. If I happen to not get picked i could have my gun for alot of the day before anyone would actually stop me so me having the weapon wouldn't be criminal.

Correct carrying onto private property it is up to owner of property to decide if they want you on their property or not with a firearm, and if they DONT you must leave or your trespassing.

Not to scare anyone and this is a family board, but I think everyone would be surprised of how many times someone legally carrying gets through security at Disney. People legally licensed are NOT the people we have to
worry about. However, I am a firearm instructor in the state of FL and i would advise you NOT to even try to bring your firearm to Disney. It is not worth the trouble and a loaded firearm on a ride is very dangerous.

I disagree, I think even legally licensed people that ignore private property rules regarding firearms are people we have to worry about. Not always of course, but a blatant disregard for those rules shows that you are not a responsible gun owner. Unfortunately having a permit does not automatically mean you are.
FTR, my dh has a CCW permit and we have firearms in our home, so I am not anti-gun.

I wont disagree with that. I am sure there are some "bad guys" that slip through and are able to get their carry license. That is a valid point.

Also it should be common sense that Disney is a place where you should not bring your firearm.

There are many "bad guys" that slip through if you go back and look at all the mass shootings in this country.

I was reading up on the laws last night and I saw that Florida is actually on a list of states that has very few reasons they can't issue you the permit so I'm sure a lot of bad eggs can slip through.

Getting back to the two stories I'm kind of shocked the woman thought it was a good idea to carry her pistol in a back pack loaded. I mean at least the guy was properly carrying his. Sure it was in a holster in the backpack but that doesn't mean it couldn't have misfired and injured somebody. Reminds me of the guy who lost his on Dinosaur a few years ago and admitted it was in his back pocket and slipped out. Seriously if you are going to try and carry in Disney at least do it in a safe manner but really don't do it at all.

Take it with a grain of salt here-

None of my friends who own guns take it into places like restaurants and other businesses (it is left in their cars if they bring it with them) nor would they even think to bring it to a theme/amusement park.

And I'm not trying to judge here the people from the various incidents in the last year or so but those friends mentioned above are very responsible gun owners.

I wasn't planning to bring one (I don't even own one, many of my family members do for hunting but I would only want to target shoot and there is no where around here to do that without joining an expensive club)

I do find it amusing how many people think you can't possibly get a weapon in many places that it is REALLY easy to do so though. When the DC Navy Yard had a shooting by someone with an authorized badge to enter the Navy Yard many people were asking how you get onto a Navy base with a gun.

Well I have been in many more secure bases (the navy yard is mostly just office space and conference rooms) and they don't search your car every time when you come in, they just check the people. I have been maybe searched 3 times total and 2 of them were on the same week (so someone decided that more searched needed to happen for some reason that week)

Once the metal detectors went in (I think last year or just over a year now I think it was summer '15) is when disney changed the policy. All these changes everyone made actually came from someone who not only didn't check their firearm but ran from security when asked about it and drew the weapon when they caught up to him inside MK. (he didn't get far)

I remember reading about that incident.
