"I"m Only Going Because My Teacher Told Me To" Nov. 2016 PTR * update 12/2 TRIP REPORT STARTED! *

Ch-ch-ch-changes.......

Welp, I've been spending this past week both doing tons of PTA stuff and trying to figure out what changes I need to make IF just Chris and I end up going down alone for a few days. He's helped me a bit which was actually fun! The days that would mainly change are days 1-4 which I've already posted, so before I get to days 5-8 let me go back over the first 4 days :thumbsup2

Day 1, 11/19 - All Of Us
MK
FP: Buzz, Splash, Jingle
Cruise
Dinner: Cape May Cafe i

Day 1- 2 Of Us
MK
FP: no change
Dinner: Cape May Cafe

That was easy! And do you know I completely forgot we'd be riding JINGLE Cruise until writing this post? One of the best things about last year!! I was really mad I never picked up the Jingle Cruise T-shirt so if they have it again I'm definitely getting it. They even still had it on our Jan. trip -didn't get it :sad2:

Day 2, 11/20-All Of Us
HS
FP: RnRC(Ricky, me) TSMM (Chris, Steve)

TOT
Lunch: Mama Melrose
Dinner: Narcoossee's

Day 2- 2 Of Us
MK or AK
FP: Splash, Pirates, BTMRR OR KRR, Safari
Lunch: nope, breakfast
Dinner: Narcoossee's

So the first thing Chris said when I told him the plans for this day was, "Oh-ho, we're going to Narcoossee's with our without them!" :rotfl:Both the boys loved it there and it kind of stinks if Ricky misses it. But the important thing is that I'll get my almond-crusted cheesecake! However, unlike Ricky and I Chris isn't a big fan of Hollywood Studios. Other than GMR and TSMM he really doesn't enjoy much there. He'll do Muppets and watch the shows but none are things he asks to do unless we're there and he's bored. So he's decided if it's just the 2 of us, he rather go to AK or MK. He doesn't really need to decide now because I won't try to switch FP's until I know what's going on, and the above is what I'll try to get. But......it means no TOT for me this day :sad1: Ah, compromise. Also if that's the case we won't do Mama Melrose but instead will try breakfast over at the Yacht Club at

They have a regular breakfast menu and also a breakfast buffet which is most likely what we'd both get, because as Chris likes to say when discussing Disney meals, "I love a buffet!" Regardless of which itinerary we're using and whether "we're" means 2 or 4, we won't be getting an early start since whomever flew in the day before will have been up around 3:30 am.

Day 3, 11/21-All Of Us
EPCOT
FP: TT, SE
Breakfast: Garden Grill
Dinner: Il Mulino

Day 3, - 2 Of Us
EPCOT
FP: no change
Breakfast: no change
Dinner: ESPN or Blaze Pizza

As you can see, once again not much of a change which is good. Either way we'll spend most of the day at Epcot after breakfast and do most of the things we'd originally planned. Chris really wants to spend time in the Seas which works under scenario 1 or 2 but if it's just him and I, I'll most likely make a point of trying out Colortopia with him. Also not sure I'll see my German performers, depends on his mood and patience lol, but I think he'll still be interested in the JaMMitors.
Dinner is what's killing me!!! I would feel bad going to Il Mulino without Steve since he and I are both so anxious to return after our August dinner there. Plus of the 4 of us, the one least interested is Chris. It's not cheap which normally doesn't sway me either way, but in this case I think it'll work better for him (which ultimately means me) if we don't go there. We liked ESPN last year and they have wings which Chris loves. Pizza would be a nice switch since if it's the 2 of us we'll be cutting out both our Italian ADR's so a trip to DS for Blaze might work if he rather that than wings.

DID I MENTION IT"LL KILL ME NOT TO EAT AT IL MULINO? I'll need to keep repeating "compromise, compromise" and of course, plan another trip as soon as we get home..........and maybe, if it's not too late after our dinner, I can sweet talk my baby into trying TOT again with me..............

Day 4, 11/22 - All Of Us
AK/MK
FP: EE, Adventurer's Outpost, KRR
Dinner: Be Our Guest

Day 4 - 2 Of Us
MK/HS
FP: TSMM or GMR, TOT
Dinner: no change

Yeah, this day is bothering me still for some reason. I missed a TP alert yesterday for a perfect 10:40 am TH breakfast which would have been great if all 4 of us go down together, so I'm going to restart the search. As for our alternate plan, we're changing because if it's the 2 of us then the next day we'll spend in AK once Ricky and Steve get down, but I'll get to that in another post. I want all of us to be able to hit all 4 parks together. But we'll still need to do MK regardless since we have BOG dinner and that's not changing, and I want to do a RD there so that's what we'll do with plan #2. We'll hit what we can, no rush since it'll be at least our 2nd day there if not our 3rd depending what Chris chose for day 2. Then I talked him into definitely hitting HS, quite possibly for the first time, so I can ride my beloved TOT! However I'm not very optimistic I'll get TSMM FP's if I have to try for these a couple days before we go so we may end up not doing it or waiting in SB and getting GMR as our tier 1. Back to MK for dinner and either way we'll be watching Wishes from behind the castle this night :goodvibes

Whew! Long, boring, wordy post! It wasn't really hard making accommodations for our possible "split-stay" if you will. All I'll have to do if it happens is try switching some FP's kind of last minute. And yes, I'm holding the Mama Melrose and Il Mulino ADR's even though we may not use them  but I think I have a good excuse so just don't tell on me!!!

Ah I love the shirts! I didn't realize they had Jingle Cruise shirts now I want one.

Now I'm wondering if they'll still have Jingle Cruise shirts on our January trip... even though I've never done the Jingle Cruise :rotfl:

Love those jingle cruise shirts. Wanna pick one up for me :P

Crazy how you have to make 2 sets of plans, but it certainly is keeping this interesting. And really I'll be happy to come down and stay with you all so we can go to Il Mulino together. I'm sure Steve wouldn't mind :-)

What a relief that Steve actually decided to listen to you for a change and that you'll definitely be going to Disney. Scenario #3 must've frightened him as well.
Best of luck to Ricky! Hope he makes the team

Me tooooooo!!! SO cute.

Jeez, I guess I should have bought a whole bunch last year and then I could have sold them to you all now :rotfl2: It's really cute though, isn't it? And different, one you don't see everywhere. I tried finding it online and the only place that has it wants $55 :scared1: It was $34.99 in the park! I promise, if they have it next month I'll report back here asap so you all can put your $$ aside :D

I most certainly will pick one up for you if you want! I don't think I've ever seen a picture of you wearing a Disney shirt though :scratchin What's up with that??
I said this before, come down when we're there! Just you and Casey if Ricky and Steve end up staying back!!! Hell, why don't the 3 of you just plan a last minute Thanksgiving trip for 4 weeks from now ::yes::

Occasionally they do listen.....I need to make note of it so for the next 50 times he doesn't listen and I do this :sad2: I can refer back to the one time in 2016 that he did.......but yes, it was a load off my shoulders when he booked those Tues. night flights for them. I'm such a superstitious person though that I'm afraid doing that has jinxed Ricky, but I need to relax and chill and just........let it go :rolleyes1
HEY! You'll be in Morocco with your mom when we're in Disney! What all are you guys doing there? Is it your first time going?

Glad you were able to get a handle on 2 different sets of plans! I really enjoyed my time at DHS with AJ, so I think I would love it if I could do a few days with him alone and then Will alone when he gets older. I guess if I am not successful in addicting my DH, I could just plan my future trips that way? I highly doubt my boys will let me get away with that now, as they would never let me go to WDW without both of them...maybe in a few years, though!

4 weeks from today. It's an organized trip and it will be my first time. It's through the organization for municipal workers. As a municipal worker I am entitled to one trip per year. The schedule for these trips comes out every 6 months and they are very subsidized. Needless to say they are popular and fill up fast. There are specific sign up days for each trip and people write their names on a sheet taped to the door of the municipality building from the day before to ensure they'll get a spot (they sign you up according to the number next to your name on said sheet). Two years ago when I signed up for my first trip I wasn't aware of this. I had planned to sign up for a Beijing trip but got there in the afternoon and it was already full. So then I noticed one to Barcelona. I was working a morning shift on that signup day and went by there after giving out morning meds (I work as a nurse) as it's close by. Signup had started at 8am. I was there at around 10 and they had already closed one group and decided to open another. Turned out for the best because I absolutely loved Barcelona, but this just shows how popular these trips are.

When I returned from NY this year I was talking to a coworker how I was thinking of going away for my bday in December and she mentioned that a new booklet was due to come out shortly and since I hadn't taken advantage yet this year I should consider it. The Morocco trip is 10 days at the end of November so close enough. Plus I hear the guide is excellent. I know there are going to be a whole bunch of photos. There is a possibility I might write a TR for that even though I'm still in the middle of my Disney TR. We'll see.

That's great, all those trips they offer through work! Morocco is a country I think I'd enjoy visiting. I think you should most definitely do a TR, or at least stick it in your current TR (which I had no idea you had going-how have I missed it?) if you haven't finished that by the time you return from Morocco. I'd love to see pictures!

Ahh very cute shirts! I may have to get one myself!
Your plans sound good so far! I am trying to re-arrange some of our schedule so we don't miss the Jingle Bell Bam at DHS since they've added it.

I'm trying to decide if I want to switch some FP+ around or wait and see how our first few days go. And YES great reason to hold on to them before hand!

Wow...I commend you for getting your "alternate" plans all setup already. I've changed my FP+ reservations more times than I'd like to mention. I still may end up changing them again but that's because of my family and their plans to golf on our first full Disney day.

I'm still hoping your son can talk to his coach once he MAKES the team and they can still allow them to come down with you guys so you have to change NOTHING!

I can't tell you how excited I am for Jingle Jam Jingle BAM! I love all the Christmas stuff there to begin with so anything new they add is just awesome! But yeah, another reason to rearrange schedules.........and speaking of schedules I really hope we're able to meet up :goodvibes

LOL, well luckily there wasn't too much switching around since Chris still wants to do most of the meals we have planned and he only wanted to switch a day and half as far as park days!
I did read your latest update earlier and I just need to go back and comment, so I saw all about the golf on Sunday. I think it's great that you're travelling with extended family, but it's got to be a pain trying to keep up with all their plans!
It would be nice, IF he makes the team, if the coach says "hey, no problem, enjoy vacation!" But even if he said that he'd most likely end up sitting out the first few games as a result :sad2: I can cross my fingers they'll say no practices for all the days we're planning on being gone, but from what I know about last year I don't think that'll be the case!

I'm contemplating upgrading my AP on the first night to catch the JJJB because I may be dissapointed if I LOVE it and only get to see it once.
I know for sure we are doing EMH at MK on 19th and the 20th is what we haven't got decided just yet. All of our ADRs are at Mk area for that night. But I'm trying to get us over to DHS! I'm hoping to finalize plans after I work off this week! And start packing!!! :thumbsup2

P.S. talk me into riding TOT. I haven't rode it since 2001 and was scared out of my mind. It is my goal for this trip. Not sure if I can get the other girls on it with me or not. :scared1:

A Birthday Weekend, Pumpkin Style

Before I continue with my daily plans, I want to share what we did over the weekend with you guys :) My baby turned 11 on Saturday but the festivities started Friday night when he had some friends sleep over. SO fun for me!! Chris enjoyed himself though, and then after they left on Saturday he opened his presents from my mom who was visiting my sister in Ga., and my sister as well as various other family members who live elsewhere. Here he is in his NY Knicks hat from my mom holding his new basketball from my sister that he needed, even though we already have like, 25 basketballs.

Don't mind the balled up sheets behind him on the couch, I was on my way down to the washing machine with them when he announced he was ready to receive his gifts. The celebrating continued that night with dinner at his favorite restaurant, Buffalo Wild Wings, and next weekend he gets to have his family party since my mom was away this past weekend.
On Sunday night we went, along with my oldest stepson Jason and his fiance Candace, to the Great Pumpkin Blaze about 45 minutes from here. They hold it on the estate grounds of an old NY family prominent in the 1700's which is now a National Historic Site called Van Cortlandt Manor. It's something like 10 gazillion pumpkins made into different statues and shapes with different themes........ here are some pictures, some were pretty cool!

Mummy-his body is a huge carved pumpkin as well as his head

Really big spiderweb and spider

Next is the closest they came to anything Disney, the Headless Horseman! And the reason they do him is because the author of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", Washington Irving, lived about 30 minutes up the road at his estate called "Sunnyside". He's also buried there.

He's kind of a little difficult to make out. They had a line of pumpkin "heads", one lit up at a time so it looked like he was throwing his head.
One more nod to Irving and his character

This was my favorite; a very big bridge across the Hudson here is the Tappan Zee bridge, and this was the "Pumpkin Zee bridge"

They had a whole section that was a circus complete with a huge circus train, a serpent in the water similar to the Lego one in Disney Springs (except made of pumpkins of course) and a dinosaur section. Finally here's the manor house, we couldn't go in during the Blaze but they had it lit up nice and purty

It was interesting to see and at least Candace and I liked it. It was crowded though so in a few places along the paths we were bottlenecked, and that knocked Steve and my stepson out of their "happy place" because, well, men. Ricky was fine because he had his phone :sad2: and Chris's comment each time we came to a standstill was along the lines of, "Wow, more pumpkins to see. Thrilling. Thanks a lot for bringing us here mom, seriously." I do love him so.........

Back to Disney! 26 days to go! MB's should ship any minute. I also switched one dining reservation at Steve's request and it was more than fine with me! I know I haven't gotten to the day after Thanksgiving, but we were eating at Marrakesh so Ricky could have his mussels and I cancelled that for Il Mulino. Ricky was ok with that because while he's losing mussels, he's gaining the HUGE chicken parm Steve had in August that Ricky's been dying to try.

AND-did you guys see that they've extended Club Villain now for Nov-Jan??? Some of you know this already but Steve and I did the very first one in Jan. and it was absolutely fantastic :maleficen We both would love to do it again, but with the uncertainty of who will be down when we've decided to skip it. I'm totally crossing my fingers they keep extending and extending, possibly making it permanent, but at least keeping it until our next trip.
That's all for now! Will be back soon with our Day 5.

Wow...how did planning a Disney trip get so complicated lol. But it's great that you have plans now for either contingency...and they are all great!!! You will have fun no matter what happens. But I know...with all the planning involved it is always so hard not to second guess yourself!! Love those pumpkins and decorations!

I think you should most definitely do a TR, or at least stick it in your current TR (which I had no idea you had going-how have I missed it?) if you haven't finished that by the time you return from Morocco. I'd love to see pictures!

If I do a TR it will probably be separate. Also it's easy to miss TR links in signatures. I'm also guilty of this.

My baby turned 11 on Saturday

Happy Birthday!

Here he is in his NY Knicks hat from my mom holding his new basketball from my sister that he needed, even though we already have like, 25 basketballs.

25 basketballs????????????? Do you have a designated closet for them or something or are they all just thrown about?

Don't mind the balled up sheets behind him on the couch

I didn't even notice until you mentioned it and even then not right away. Then again my apartment is a disorganized mess (because I'm soooo lazy, drives my mom insane) so that might be why.

It's something like 10 gazillion pumpkins made into different statues and shapes with different themes........ here are some pictures, some were pretty cool!

That really does sound cool! Love the pics you shared

Chris's comment each time we came to a standstill was along the lines of, "Wow, more pumpkins to see. Thrilling. Thanks a lot for bringing us here mom, seriously."
