Hi.

We will be at Disney December 26-January 1. All parks are 10s.

For those that have been at this time, have you been able to secure a 4th FP after using your third one?

We will be at MK, Epcot and AK at RD (our family of 4 have an 18 and 22 year old).
We plan on heading out of parks about 11:30 am / 12 pm.

We plan on arriving back to MK around 10-11 pm and stay until 2 am.
We plan on arriving back to Epcot about 8 pm and stay until 12:30 am.

Should I just get my FPs for later in the evening when we return?

Thank you all so much!

That's not much park time at all.

You really don't need FP's early in the morning. Be to the parks in the morning about 45+ min before the park opens and you can get a lot done from park open until you want to leave around noon. We hit the parks in the morning then leave around noon but return around 4/5pm with FP's starting in the afternoon.

I'd do the same still even if you're planning on arriving back so late. You can usually get a 4th or more FP but on days that busy it'll be for the less popular rides. So I'd just make your FP's for when you decide to return to the park.

Also keep in mind that if you arrive back so late to the park on dec 30th and 31st, if you're going to MK and Epcot you'll miss their fireworks they do at 6:30. They have a show at 6:30 then again at 11:50 for the nye fireworks. So if your plans could work for that, I'd try on those two days to get to those parks a little earlier.

And another note..if you don't already know, MK shoots off their nye fireworks on the 30th as well, so my recommendation is always to do MK on the 30th and then Epcot on nye to see both nye fireworks shows.

Thank you CAS. I am planning approximately 9 hours of park time. Thinking MK will open at 7 am. Do you think that is not enough?
7 am - 12 pm = 5 hours
10 pm - 2 am = 4 hours
9 hours is good for us. We don't need to do/see everything we go once/twice a year but never during Christmas/New Years (except two years ago we did MK for one day pre NYE cruise).

Thanks about the fireworks. If we see them, great, if not, we don't mind missing. It may be nice to see all together but we are from NY and we have seen our
share of St. Pats parades and Macy's fireworks but we have also seen our share of MK/Epcot ones too but do know that the NYE is special.

So, I think what I need to finally decide is that I am going to do my FPs for both Epcot and MK when we arrive back in the evenings. AK, I'll do around lunchtime since we don't plan on returning at night.

Hopefully, the FPs will still be available when I book next week.

Thank you for your help the last few weeks, I appreciate it.

We were there 12/19-12/28 last year. We were able to book 4th FP at MK for several attractions and we had 10 people in our party. We did not try at AK since we ended up leaving early after we accomplished everything we wanted to do. I think I tried to reschedule our Test Track FP for 8 of us because Test Track went down during our window and there were a few attractions like Imagination available, but we opted just to go later in the day.

I have found the TP website to be helpful when trying to project possible plans for a 4th FP. They have a nice chart that shows what FP might be available throughout the day based on crowds. I will try to link it below.

Thank you so much! My MK day is December 30, which is when they show the fireworks for NYE. I don't care about the fireworks and we will
be there for 7 am RD. We have dinner ressies at our DVC SSR, Turf Club at 6:40 pm. Thinking by the time we finish and with traffic, we will
be at MK about 10 pm. While you were there, how was traffic? I usually leave an hour from place to place, I'm thinking 2 hours?
Even though MK closes at 2 am, I'm still thinking being the most crowded time of year that it will still be a mess in MK even at 2 am.
Do you think this to be correct? Did you experience this too? If so, should I just get my FP for that night or day?
So confused on what to do.

We loved 7 AM RD, so I would highly recommend it! We got so much done during the first 3-4 hours. It was awesome! We also had great experiences staying late. We have been several times the week before Christmas and the week between Christmas and NYE, and have found the crowds start to thin out by 11 PM. By midnight most attractions except for PP, 7DMT, BTMR, and Space were a walk-on for us. We saved BTMR towards the end and had virtually no wait.

That being said, we have never been at the MK on that specific date so I don't know how the draw of the special fireworks effects wait times. We were there for the 4th of July, however, and still found that crowds did thin out later and made wait times seem pretty manageable.

We like to start 7 AM rope drop with the highly popular or low capacity attractions first and then work our way through the high capacity attractions the later it gets. We would start in Fantasyland or Tomorrowland first and then moved toward Adventureland or Frontierland as the crowds started to build. We found that kept us one step ahead of the crowds. We would take a snack break around 10:30-11:00 and then had FP scheduled throughout the afternoon with a break for lunch around 1:30-2:00. This schedule seemed to really work well for us.

In the evening, we would use the reverse strategy of the morning and start with high capacity rides and shows moving toward the other lower capacity attractions as wait times diminished.

As far as traffic, we've been pretty lucky to not have any problems. Most visits we have stayed with family so we were driving our cars, but never had any traffic issues. Last year, we were at POP and used the buses. We had no problems, but Christmas morning, we drove by some of the madness at the MK entrance. It did not look pretty! I was worried because we had scheduled a late breakfast at 1900 PF. Our bus took a different route getting to the MK though, and we bypassed the worst of the traffic. From the MK, we took the monorail to the GF with no issues. We did leave plenty of time (I think 2 hours like you suggested), but were pleasantly surprised at how easy transportation was.

It's definitely crowded that week, but we love the festive atmosphere, the holiday spirit and all of the extra Christmas decorations and entertainment. We go in knowing that we will not get to see and do everything, but with smart touring and the use of those early morning and late night hours, we almost always overexceed our expectations.

Thank you so much PirateD. Your touring plans sound just like our family's plans. I think we will do FPs for MK for the evening and
then FP for Epcot during the day. I think we will do the countries at night but need to check with kids and dh.
You are correct about 7 am RD. We did 7 am RD two years ago on December 27 for MK and we were done and left by 11:30 am.
We only did the one day and few hours since we were heading to a cruise the next day so I really don't have any other experience.
I think we will be good during the day as long as we get there about 6:30 am for a 6:45/7 am RD and leave about 11:30 am.
Next Thursday is my FP day and I think I will start with MK first for December 30 and hope there are some left for evenings.
Thank you so much for helping me out. You have been a great help!
