Just left, my thoughts

sitting at LAX having just checked out so why it's still fresh here are my thoughts in random order.

The crowds aghh, they were expected thanks to disboards but still a shock since our last visit in '98. Mon-thurs were better. Weekends were a waste of time.

Lanksys, thank you for the recommendation. The best $200 we have ever spent. We flew into LAX 15 minutes after landing we were in the car heading down the freeway. We arrived at GCAL 1 hour earlier than we predicted.

Peter Pan, an absolute waste of time. I don't get it at all. Much better rides in Fantasyland with shorter wait times.

GCAL they do a fantastic job. It's a magical place.

Toontown and IASW needs a rehaul. Such a waste of space. Micky, Minnie and friends are all over the park and it works beautifully. They don't need a land.

TOT loved it. Why they would waste money revamping it when there is wasted space (see above) needing money spent on it is beyond comprehension.

Cove Bar, lobster nachos. Yum this thoroughly deserves its cult following

Cozy Cones, not so much. Too sugary for my tastes.

Star Tours, a massive highlight for us. As was Jedi training.

Frozen so so good!

RSR awesome but not really interested in riding it too many times as opposed to Star Tours.

FP we only used it for Star Tours, SM and Frozen.
It's too crowded to be racing around lands & park hopping to bother but we had early morning for 5 days so this meant we could do everything we wanted comfortably

MHP the fireworks were worth the ticket price alone although for those that experienced the 60th birthday celebrations without extra charges would disagree

WOC not worth the hassle

Halloween decorations/theming was just gorgeous

Happy to answer any questions x

Thanks for taking the time to share! We went to the party last year but barely caught the fireworks, so I really want to get a good view this year. Where did you watch from and how early did you secure a spot?

I enjoyed reading your overall experiences. Sounds like you had a good time.
I still haven't tried Cove Bar. I'm glad you like it. Hopefully trying it in Dec when we visit DL. Its on my list "to do".

Thanks for your thoughts...though I gotta' say they kind of deflated me. My travel partner just said she 'hates crowds'. I don't like them either, but I've always had a grand time at DLR even though I am always there over the weekend. Tell me more about your experience of weekends.

I have to say I agree with this. We went to meet Mickey at his house in ToonTown and the wait was an over and hour so we decided against it and sure enough met him on Main Street in his 60th garb. Met Minnie, Goofy and Pluto at the hotel.

What was the best $200 you spent? I don't understand that part!
Was the round trip cost for a private driver from LAX to GCAL. He met us on the escalator & took our bags. Our flight was 40 minutes early & he must have looked it up.

Weekend mornings are manageable but by lunchtime it's just a wall of people & long wait times. Last night we did not get a single ride it was so busy. We liked to finish our evenings with a ride on Grizzly Peak. All week it had been a 5 minute wait at night. Last night at 9.30 it was 70mins. In saying that the Gay Days convention has started so extra busy

We watched the 1st parade on the curb behind the castle on Tomorrowland side & then walked out on to Main Street when finished. Wait time was 40mins

The parade is super short but super clever. The fireworks were phenomenal but again for those that had the 60th birthday ones maybe not so much.
So many costumes, made for a great atmosphere. We carried ours from Australia, all through Canada and it was worth it.

Okay thank you--that helps. As I've never had a mid-week stay, I probably don't know what I am missing. I do manage the weekend crowding by rope drop starts and afternoon breaks. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Duh! Thanks so much. We, too, LOVE private drivers. Use them at DW

My understanding is that Toontown is set up for the younger visitors to DL. It's not my favourite place but I no longer have very young kids so can skip it ;)

I thought about this too but it was empty a lot. I think market research will show that younger visitors are in Fantasyland, Bugsland, Hollywood studios & Carsland

We are going in June. Last October used the Disneyland Express. It sounds like a private driver would work out much better. How do we go about this?
