Single Room pricing

Hi everyone.....I've done this before but I have a new issue so I'm hoping you can help.

Cabin #1: DH and DD (9 yo)
Cabin #2: Myself and mom

Mom will sleep in her room and I'll sleep in Cabin 1. We are just trying to help with her single room pricing.

Question pops up with Aunt. She may or may not go on the cruise with us. If I put Aunt in room with mom and move me back to room with DH and DD then mom doesn't have to worry about single passenger pricing. BUT what is Aunt decides that she doesn't want to go 3 months from now. If I move back to Cabin #2 with my mom then is the cabin repriced and she will have to be repriced at the higher amount that the cabin will most likely be at 3 months from now? We all know DCL doesn't get cheaper so I know the price will go up. My question is will it effect our pricing with changing out people. Would I be better to put Aunt in Cabin #1 so if she drops then its just a drop and not a total reprice? Then when it gets closer we switch me and Aunt to put us in the right rooms if Aunt really does go?

Have I confused you all now!? Thanks in advice!

Scenario 1: Room 1 - DH & DD; Room 2 You and Mom and aunt. You move to room 1, you assume DDs space, and DD's cost now becomes whatever the cost is for a 9 year old 3rd passenger in the room. Mom & aunt pay for 2 adults and 3 person charge is dropped in room 2. Now Aunt doesn't come - you move back to room 2, your daughter's cost will still be (again) the 2d person (adult) price in room 1. Room two will still be 2 adults (you and mom) aunt's 3rd passenger cost is dropped.

Scenario 2: Room 1 - DH & DD; Room 2 - you, mom, and aunt. If aunt decides not to come, she is dropped, and there's no shuffling (on paper) of anyone else. Price for 3rd person in room 2 is dropped. You can sleep in whichever room you wish, regardless of what room you are the reservation for. Just pick up am extra room key (no charging privileges) for room 1 for you at Guest Services onboard.

Scenario 3: Room 1 - DH & DD; Room 2 - you & mom. Aunt decides to come, add her to whichever room you want, her cost will be the prevailing price at the time you add her. Or just put her on the reservation to start with (whichever room - I'd suggest room 1) and drop her if she opts out.

Personally, I'd just leave the reservation as it is and add Aunt to mom's room if she decides to go. Then if she changes her mind you're back to where you started. DCL doesn't really care who sleeps in which room.

I would just put her in cabin 1 and then we boarded go to guest services and make the name switch. Is everyone the same CC status ? I would also be sure to put 1 or the highest in each cabin so I could make all port adventure and other reservations at the same time.

I just didn't want the pricing to change with switches and go up but Scenario 2 sounds like the best plan for us in PrincessShmoo's post. We've done the "I'm in mom's room but not really" bit before but never with Aunt (her first DCL...well any cruise....ever) and she's not sure about going so I like the idea of adding her to mom's room and I'll just sleep wherever. Yay!! Thanks!

Add a TBD to moms room and update the name later. I do it for my mom often. I have similar situations

I would put DH and you in one room and DD and Mom and aunt in the second room. If aunt doesn't come, one person is dropped from the price (probably the price of the 9yr old, as she now becomes the 2nd full fare in that room). There's minimal switching that way and you would be paying for the price of DD as a 3rd in one of the rooms if aunt comes anyway, while paying for her as an adult if aunt doesn't come. She can remain on grandma's room and sleep in your room or grandma's if you all agree.
