Adding another person to room after booking

HI guys
Just wondering if you all know if I am able to book with a certain number of people in a cabin and then add another one closer to the day of sailing? If so, how does that work with deposits and such?
In my case, I would like to book for DH, DD and me but may add younger DD or maybe not. She will only be 14 months at the time of sailing and my mom is willing to watch her while we take DD5 on her first cruise. I would like to book this weekend to take advantage of kids sail free...
Another thought is, would I be able to book all 4 of us and then take her off the reservation if needed?

If you think there is a chance you will bring her I would book her from the start. Because of lifeboat laws it might not be possible to add a person at a later date but it is always possible to remove someone. This is assuming that you are booking a room that sleeps 4 regardless of whether she comes with or not.

It will depend on the room and the number of guests in the rooms surrounding your room. Call and ask if it is possible and I would recommend to add them now. You could always remove them before the final payment date.

I would definitely add her now, especially if it is Kids sail free. It will not cost you anything to remove her later. Plus, you may not be able to add her later if the muster station is at capacity. I just tried to add a 4th to my cabin for a March Anthem sailing and I can't because of that reason.

You will be better off booking her into the cabin now. If you decide not to take her, she just becomes a "no show" and you should get her port fees and taxes back. If you wait, RCL may - and most likely will - re-price the entire booking when you add her, and depending on what promo (if any) is active at that time, you may lose all of the deals you get now and pay a lot more for the cruise.

NEVER safe nor smart to do it backwards. book for the maximum number of people who may go. it is FAR easier to drop someone closer to sail date than it is to add, because not only can you be blocked from doing so due to lifeboat capacity, you may be repriced at the current rate and lose any perks you may have gotten before.
