DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Afternoon gents. Bit of a blustery day here today.

Can you guys stop moving m chair? everytime i come in here to sit my chair is in a different place. Please leave it right here in the corner under the light so I can see what I am reading

First thing I thought of was They Might Be Giants "Someone Keeps Moving My Chair".

I was gone for so long they sold my chair at a garage sale.

If you had to pick one thing and say it is your most enjoyable thing to do at Disney. what would that be?

Now that my kids are older I really enjoy just taking the time to walk around or sit and just watch the surroundings. Seeing the magic as it develops for others just makes my day. I love to see younger kids and their families smiling, giggling and just have a plain old good time.Though the times with my own family are great I just get that extra boost from watching others....

I know I know the creepy guy watching everyone

Can't pin it to one thing. Just being there is joy on itself.

Somehow I think I lost the lottery...

Oh I'm quite good at that.

G'afternoon all...
Heard from my young'en that someone hacked his debit card. His first hack; welcome to the new reality of finance. He's already got it locked down and they didn't get much (partly because he didn't have much to get just now)

He'll just be stuck on campus until the C/U issues him a new one.
Could be worse.

Crank calling Epcot pay phones in England...
Can you still do that.
Can't say what the situation is today, but on our graduation trip down there in 2013 all three booths were out of order. I figured the management had put a stop to it so we haven't tried since.

Wow...it's starting to feel like the good old days. I don't stop over one day and the next I'm several pages behind.
Nice to see some old friends drop by.
I hope the trend continues.

There's also a whole lotta stupid in this world.
Frighteningly true statement...

I was gone for so long they sold my chair at a garage sale.
We'd never do such!
It's in the stack over there in the hall closet.
Just go dig it out and stay a while.

Another 3 hour dentist visit today. Going to lay down and wait until Happy Hour at the house begins at 5:00.

Petrino is a great college footbal coach. Great person? Well, i think that is where you are going....

Yea, not a great person. Some are speculating LSU is going to go after him.

I would pay to watch episodes of Snark Week.

Yeah, I noticed the Miami contingent on the show this year. Weren't they in Australia? You'd think they could find plenty of sharks closer to home!

Tiger Beach is in the Bahamas. When they normally go trolling for sharks, they are within view of the Miami coastline, so yes, they are out there. I am sure they go all over the world though.

I couldn't find the whole show but here is a 2 min. clip of the program. It is at the point where they are taking sonograms of female Tiger sharks. Kind of cool. The little whiny guy in the red shirt is Neil, the head of the program and the guy that chose the Pirate Princess for her internship.

http://www.discovery.com/tv-shows/shark-week/videos/first-ever-tiger-shark-sonogram-reveals-pups/

Andy, even though the Gators lost, your guy Appleby had a pretty good game. 290 yards passing 3 TDs and 1 (costly) interception. The big problem was the offensive line.

Right now I'm targeting 6-7 years from now as the target goal for retirement. I won't have insurance covered so I will most likely be working primarily to pay for that. I'm actually going back to school slowly getting my MBA so I can use that to help resetting my career. My goal is to wind up doing something on Disney's analytics team. The only issue is that I think the recent hires on that team have been in California not Orlando even though they have some people in Celebration.

I get insurance & retirement pay, just not a lot of it. Until I can get at my 401K, I may have to pick up a 2nd job. I would like to get my tennis certification and teach for some extra income.

I'm eligible for retirement with a huge penalty right now... in 3 more years no penalty, but reduced pension.... in 10 years, full retirement.
Part of me wants it to be 10 years from now. Part of me wants to be 10.... make it 20..... 25.... yeah... 25 years younger.

Wow. :sad2:

Well, I don't have any delusions of flying around the world. My goal is not to have any bills and enough $ to enjoy each day.

Wow...it's starting to feel like the good old days. I don't stop over one day and the next I'm several pages behind.

::yes::

That stinks. Did he have the debit card with the chip embedded? Or, does he know where the hack came from.

Yea, not a great person. Some are speculating LSU is going to go after him.
.

He would really be foolish to leave, which means he'll probably go. After his first successful bid at UL, he flopped with the Falcons. Some coaches, including Nick Saban, are just better college coaches than pro. He has a great setup at UL and the AD hired him back for a 2nd chance. If he can recruit players like Jackson, then he should be set. He can play for a National Championship at UL, just by making it into the top 4 and representing ACC. He'd always be 2nd at LSU to Alabama.

I read that there's a fairly significant percentage of the population who actually have "win the lottery" as part of their retirement planning.

Ah, so they're on the Redneck Retirement Plan.

That sucks. Seems like sooner or later, everyone gets their turn dealing with that these days.

It had the chip in it, but not every location requires you use them yet.
I suspect it either got picked off of a web site while we was buying something on line or someone local either swiped or copied the number when he made some minor in store or restaurant purchase. I probably need to help him get a decent credit card to use for such things and pay off every month. that would have better fraude protection.

Yep...
I've been hacked three times since 2011. I've learned to stay rightvigilant when it comes to checking balances and transactions. It's pretty much a daily routine now.

He has a good gig and is lucky to have it. If he was smart he would stay in the ACC and not go to the SEC West.

Sorry to hear about the young'en's issue with the card. I am used to fraud charges against my card, it happens about 3 times a year. Some are real but more are preemptive strikes by BOA. If I bought something at Target and they get hit, BOA cancels my card. And there is the occasional, "Where the he!! is my card?" incidents. Feel for him and I hope it gets straightened out soon.

Not us, maybe misplaced it but Randall would not have let us sell it.

Sorry to hear this for DS but like others have referenced hits everybody at some point. The debit cards the kids have on there own when they use it they can process as a CC so that is so that no PIN is required thus PIN can't get hacked. Transaction works like debit card, debits there account only done like a CC. They also have a VISA CC for emergencies or for the stuff I pay for plus DD has her own CC.

That bites, hope he gets the money back.

Surprised by all the comments about the frequency of this happening; don't hear it happening much around here.

Agree. That's why I keep my Disney Visa card. The only thing I use my debit card is for ATM.

Except the difference that with credit, they don't get your money. I know it's the same protection, but with the debut card, your money is already gone from the bank account. Yes, they are supposed to replace it in a timely manner, but I don't want to deal with that hassle. With the credit card, I dispute the charge and it was their money at risk all along - not mine.

Don't know. I think they are working but don't know the numbers. Anyone remember what number to dial that says the number you are calling from?

*67

Yes, it works from cell phone.

Morning fellas. We are in Fall weather here, with 50s in the AM and 60s/ low 70s in the PM. I miss that summer heat. Today is my last day for the week as I'm taking tomorrow off to play tennis in the morning and enjoy the day.
It's already down to around 15C (50sF)in the daytime here, which is about normal, but next week the night time temps are forecast to be only 3-4C (high 30sF), which is below normal. Too early for frost in the morning. (Mind you normal night time temps for us this time of year is only 6C/40sF, so it's not that far off). But I love the fall colours on the trees, so I don't mind the cool weather too much. I do envy you guys in the south come January when I'm waist deep in snow in the driveway...

Yeah I don't hear it too much either. We've had the chip cards for years, so I don't know if that has helped or not. Seems like it might.

I think they disconnected the phones in 2013 but I don't know if they've been reconnected. I used to have the numbers saved in my phone but don't anymore.

Rach has some pretty expensive medicine so we'll always need pretty good insurance, which will be my main reason to work full time even in retirement. For me I'm looking at it about being able to switch to a job that is less about money and more just about stuff that I think is interesting and fun. Tennis pro would be fun. You'd probably meet a lot of interesting people. I'd actually love to be a photopass person full time. The idea of helping people capture memories from something that will really stand out for them sounds fun to me.

Wow. that's brutal. No, I'm concerned I've been hacked and don't know it.

And there is the occasional, "Where the he!! is my card?" incidents. Feel for him and I hope it gets straightened out soon.
I definitely have my share of those

Whoever's there next should check[/QUOTE]

Question for ya'll

DW and I will be there for DDC. We are getting there the night before our friends so we essentially have one meal (a breakfast) on our own. The night before we'll be saying at Boardwalk. Can any of you think of a date place for breakfast preferably around Boardwalk. Trattoria al Forno sprung to mind. Is there anything else I think we could probably get to Epcot if there was anything there? I thought about Tusker House but I don' know that I want a buffet.

Morning Guys,

Today is friday, it is my day to do what I want
Mama can tell me that I'm goin nowhere, I'm just a prisoner of my fate
Would you come along, bring me in
Would you come along, bring me in
Bring me in

Today if friday, it is my day to disappear
To kings and queens and make-believe and the demons in my head
Would you come along, bring me in
Would you come along, bring me in
Bring me in

If you were around in my sleep
If you could be found in my sleep
Give me a sign
Give me a sign

Today is friday, it is my day to live a simple life
Put on my make-up, dress up in color
Maybe you might see me down here
Could you come along, bring me in
Would you come along, bring me in
Bring me in

If you were around in my sleep
If you could be found in my sleep
Give me a sign
Give me a sign

Maybe we'll walk into the rain
To ease what's on my mind-
You both hand in hand
And you're living your life over again

Today is friday it is my day to do what I want
Mama can tell me I'm goin nowhere
I'm just a prisoner of my fate
Would you come along, bring me in
Could you come along, bring me in
Bring me in

If you were around in my sleep

Give me a sign
Give me a sign

Put on my make-up, dress up in color
Maybe you might see me down here
Can you come along, bring me in
Will you come along, bring me in
Bring me in

We haven't spent much time around the Boardwalk so I won't be much help to you.

Happy birthday Norm!

It is a rainy, cold Friday here, but still a great day. I have a three day weekend.

It's already down to around 15C (50sF)in the daytime here, which is about normal, but next week the night time temps are forecast to be only 3-4C (high 30sF), which is below normal. Thanks for those temperature conversions. I need those like I need the U and re translation. :lmao:

I think there is some weather front going through, and I hope for some warmer temps for the next few months.

Rach has some pretty expensive medicine so we'll always need pretty good insurance, which will be my main reason to work full time even in retirement. I checked at Vero Beach Resort. Disney just uses a local pro they call when someone wants to hit. I think the rate was $60 an hour (?) which is a bit higher than the usual rate, but it is a vacation resort. I know the written test isn't bad and I can make all the shots on the court test. I don't know if WDW does it the same way. I don't know if want to work at WDW when I retire. I might enjoy boat captain as I like being on the water.

Trattoria is good for breakfast, with seasonal offerings. Captain's Grill over at the Yacht Club (boat or walk) has a good breakfast. They have a buffet or you can order off the menu. Cape May has the character buffet at Beach Club. I think Tusker House was one of the better character buffet breakfasts, but Cape May was really close to it. Garden Grove at Swolphin is breakfast buffet as well, and I'm thinking characters only appeared certain days. The Boardwalk Bakery has hot sandwiches that you could sit outside on the Boardwalk and eat. That's a weather permitting option, but the Boardwalk is peaceful in the morning, other than the occasional crazy runner jogging by. :lmao:

Happy birthday Norm!

Thanks Darcy.
