Hello!

Here are the facts:

German holidays:

January 02 until January 06 2017

and

April 10 until April 21 2017 (Eastern)

Both could be a 6 night stay for us which we prefer.

My planning starts now but I have some pro/cons for both.

1. We really love the Christmas season but there will be so much ride closures this time. On the other hand it will be “value season” so the price could be ok.

2. We could go over the 12.April which will be the 25th birthday and I guess there will be some special events at this day. On the other hand the park will be very full and its way more expensive than in January but nearly every attraction will be open.

3. Another plan is to go the week after Eastern which will be a little bit cheaper but we could miss the 25th anniversary day.

What do you think?

Will there be any special events on the 12 April and will it be worth to be there at a very full packed DLP?

We always stayed at the SQL but want to go to another hotel this time.

Would you prefer the HNY or the new refurbished NPB (both are at the same costs)?

Thanks!

I cant answer all ya questions but I think Newport is exquisite. It never seems as busy as the other hotels either - maybe as it is the biggest but i think that more people go to the New York Hotel.

Newport is beautiful, moreso after the refurb. We had a few drinks in the Sequoia Lodge Lounge, which was a really nice place to be too. The rooms still look a little rough though.

Closure-wise, there will still be closures in the lead up to the 25th Celebrations so in the early part of the year there won't be a good time for that before April

In July this year the water around BTM was drained!

Personally, I'd do April, it will be busy, but warmer and the Celebrations could be fun :)

Anyone knows if there are special events on April 12th?

Fireworks or shows?

Personally I would go later in April if I could and try and avoid the French school holidays if possible. I haven't heard of any events specifically for the 12th. There may well be something but I would personally rather have lower crowd levels. You'll still get to see the new events for the 25th. I'd also choose April over January as Star Tours will be open, as will BTM (I've heard it may open in December but I wouldn't be surprised if it's delayed), plus I prefer the warmer weather and longer daylight.

Hotel-wise it would definitely be NPB for me to check out the refurb.

We went during the Christmas Holiday a couple of years ago and in August. We have gone many times to Disneyland and Disney World but at the time we were living in Bavaria, I have to say that I definitely enjoyed the Holiday time in Disney Paris more than any other Disney Park. It was much colder but I really liked it. The holiday parades and just the atmosphere was a lot nicer.

Ok....new update

BTM will be open in early January so this would be a plus.

Space Mountain will be closed according to DLP in early January until March 2017.

But when in early January? Any dates ???

:confused3

I’ve been in January a few times, once at the end of the month was the coldest trip of my life – not snow but bitingly cold wind. Last year we were there to catch the end of the Christmas celebrations and then soon after, the start of the sales which was a bonus. Weather wasn’t too bad at all for time of year. It kept the Christmas spirit going as tree lighting, parades etc. were still operating, only Santa had finished. Even after the official season ending the actual decorations including the tree were around for weeks which somewhat surprised me.

Now that BTM will be open again on Dezember 17th my plan is to go from January 2nd until January 8th.

It is cheaper that to go in April and I guess it will not be that full because there are no school holiday in France at that time.

I´ve heard that POTR will be closed for refurbishment from January 8th so this would match too. Hope that Spacge Mountain will be the same.

I just dont know which hotel for this trip.

My favourite this time will be the "new" NPB which I prefer over the "old" HNY.

The Compass Club at the NPB is an option and I would love to stay there but its 500,-€ more for our stay.

Worth it?

It depends if you're a full on parks group, or if you'll actually chill at the hotel. When we go it's usually for 2 nights, but when we are 2 weeks in Orlando we do use the facilities a lot more

We are inside the parks the full day and come back to the hotel after the park is closed.

I like to go to breakfast whenever I like and not during a time slot.

We stayed at the SQL the last years and we get there always a VIP breakfast. This would be ok for the NPB too but I do not know if we will get this there too.

How long is the lounge at the NPB open?

I was to DW once in January. Got to Riverside early afternoon and went swimming (temperature low 80s). Saturday evening it dropped to 29.

I really don not know what to do at the moment. :earseek:

My decision goes from Newport to New York and then back to Compass Club and then back to a "normal room".

It would be 500,-€ more for a Compass Club and I really do not know if that is worth it.

On the other hand I like to go to the breakfast whenever I want and I always get a VIP breakfast at the SQL which enables us to do so.

Hmmmm......I´m stucked. :goodvibes

I adore the Newport Bay but think of it as a 'summer' hotel. Seeing as your trip is January I'd be picking Hotel New York for the proximity to the parks/Village!

Good point but Newport is refurbished and New York not.

New York is still ok - we're going back for the 10th time in a couple of weeks and honestly I can't really see that much of a difference in the last few years. Some rooms have the flat screen TV's/larger safe and some don't. For us that doesn't matter as we don't watch the TV. I like the room size in the HNY and the proximity to the park. It's really easy to do EMH and then back to the hotel to warm up and get a long leisurely breakfast.

It does need to be updated a bit but it's not dirty or in disrepair as far as I can see. Staff have always been lovely, housekeeping perfect too. If you look at the hotel sticky pages I've put a review on after every visit and the rooms look the same.

Not being refurbished wouldn't worry me, especially when you get reassurances from regulars like Julie above.

But I expect that's why they're the same cost. I remember when we stayed at Newport Bay it was virtually the same cost as the Sequoia Lodge but the New York was quite a bit more expensive. I bet once the New York's been refurbished it won't be the same price as the Newport Bay.

Aren't the NPB and the HNY the same hotel category now though with NPB getting 4 stars? That would make me think they'll be similar prices. I think Compas Club is really expensive, when you compare it to Golden Forest at SQL. I know one is a 4 star hotel to a 3. Compass Club hardly ever seems to be in offers these days. And I think, once the breakfast thing comes into force, that many of the 'Club' levels won't be on offer - bit like the Castle Club. Hope I'm wrong!

I'd go for Golden Forest at SQL lol - I know it wasn't one of your options, but I think it's a beautiful winter hotel.

We stayed there the last 5 times and the girls want to see something new this time.....:love1:

It goes between HNY and NPB and some want HNY and some want a refurbished room.

We discuss this every day :grouphug:
