Didn't see a March thread started and I booked with Dollar. Spring break can be crazy so decided to book early with a rate I can live with.

Dollar
Promo code: 100182 (also CHEP)
7 day rental, dates March 4-11
Compact
$206.90

Hope that helps, also I will say don't wait to book! You can always cancel and rebook if you find a better rate. Also last year I booked with Dollar on Thanksgiving weekend (Black Friday deal) for a Jan/16 trip. Will be watching for that again.

wow didn't think to watch black friday deals for cars! good tip

Better safe than sorry, right? I thought the same thing as the DIANAPRINCESSOFWALES.
I booked with Budget. A mini-van (we are party of 5 with crazy size luggages). The total was U$ 614 (March 9-16).

We have a midsize SUV from March 11-18 for $241 using the Costco discount. Not too bad but I hope to get better. Also looking for coupon codes. The past several years we had a code for $25 off but I haven't seen any for 2017 yet.

Hi. I am trying to rent a car for my dh who will be in Orlando watching my ds play college baseball for March 3-March 8. Pick up on March 3 at 12:30 AM (not afternoon) and returning at 6:00 pm on March 8.

The least expensive I can find is $220 from Costco even though I'm using all the Mousesaver codes.

I think I figured out I was doing something incorrectly.
My dh lands on March 3 at 11:55 pm. I want him to pick up rental at 12:15/12:30 AM, so that is technically March 4.
This gives me one less day to rent and I think that is the correct information anyway for the reservation. Is that correct?

Subbing. Right now I have a dollar City Special from Dollar. March 4th to March 22nd in a Full-size for $633.73. I'm sure it will come down.... I hope anyway.

That coupon code worked for me too...$25 off. Thanks so much!!

My Dollar weekly rate went down by $9.

7 day rental, dates March 4-11

I used promo rate: 100182

Went from $206.90 down to
$197.08 (found the lock low and go to be 1$ less with the AAA discount rate (with code 3000049)
Compact car.

My initial booking for 3/24-3/30 is with Alamo - Standard - base $189/total $224.61. That's with the Alamo Insiders discount, which was a little lower than Costco discount, which is unusual. Also used the AD2823JAZ code mentioned above, which seems to apply only to Standard and above. I actually only need a compact, but the Standard was less expensive...so far. I fully expect to do at least a little better.

It is way early for final rates, but it is smart to have something in hand. (Just stay away from prepay)

Just for reference:
For 3/9/16-3/15/16 - Dollar Compact for $159.65 (City Special) booked on 1/5/2016
For 3/19/15-3/25/15 - Alamo Compact $199.74 (Costco; $15 Entertainment cpn) booked 10/10/2014
For 3/14/14-3/19/14 - Dollar Compact $100.16 (Silver Dollar) booking date unknown

It used to be true that the best rates could be found in the last few weeks before departure, and it still is - sometimes. I went down last month and found my best rate just two days before departure. However, as seen above, the past couple years the deep discounts close to the March trip haven't happened...

Wow, just wow. I'll never use Costco travel to book again. I may actually contact them about this. Here's why:

I was curious about firstwdw's comment on the origination of AD2823JAZ, so I googled it. Found nothing interesting. Just for laughs I tried Bing instead. Unlike google, Bing showed an entry at costcotravel.com that has full details of someone's car reservation. No credit card or anything like that, but it has the car, dates, confirmation numbers and worst of all, that individuals Costco membership number. That should never show up in an internet search...

WHOA! That's crazy! So I guess it is a costco code? I've read reports of some of those not working upon arriving at the car rental counter so I'm staying clear of that for a variety of reasons-thanks for posting! Just looked it up myself and see exactly what you are talking about, YIKES!

That doesn't necessarily mean its a Costco code, it was just used in a Costco reservation. When you apply it at Alamo, it just says "$25 off" with nothing else. That suggests to me that its probably a public code and can likely be used. Most Alamo coupons are electronic these days. I think it can be safely used and I have it on my current reservation (although it is using the Costco ID).

BTW, I did send a message to Costco thru their main site saying that they really shouldn't be allowing personal identifiable information to be displayed with a simple web search.

thanks for clarifying!

Unfortunately I didn't see any Thanksgiving weekend deals. I am holding a decent reservation for March 4-11 at Dollar for a compact totaling $187.25.

I've been at WDW the last three years in a row in mid March. Rental rates have been the highest I've ever paid and each year they seem to creep a little higher. It's a little hard to swallow when I've gotten used to paying around $90 total for a weeks rental. Last year I paid $60 for a two day rental from the CCC and that ended up being the best per day rate that I could find. Codes and coupons are not as free flowing as they used to be. Oh well, at this point my trip is not actually booked and I'm not sure that I will be able to book but I will keep an eye on rental prices in the event that I can make it happen.

I am getting worried, been looking for car rentals for months for my March trip. Usually I take one from Costco site, with Alamo. I need a mid SUV. Might try Priceline, I guess, if it does not come down.
