Golf Carts

Our first trip to the Fort is coming up Thanksgiving week. I'm wondering about golf carts...are they necessary? Where is the best place to rent one? Are we able to drive it to the main bus stop and/or ferry stop and just park it for the day? Thank you all!

You can rent them at the Fort or Off site (Tee Time Rentals). If you don't have one reserved by now, it may be difficult. They were running low when I reserved mine about a month ago.

You can park by the Bus stop up near the Outpost and by the boat launch at the settlement, however parking by the bus stops near the loops is not really an option, but then, if you have a golf cart, why would you want to leave it at that one.

Golf carts are NOT necessary (unless of course you have certain types of conditions then it could be). The Disney transportation is pretty good, but I always figure on a solid HOUR of travel time from Site to Destination when I use the Disney transportation system. (Bus stop at Loop, to either Outpost or settlement, then transfer to bus or ferry to next stop, etc...). While the GCs are not necessary, they do make some things a bit easier and convenient. Coming back from the Park late and having to wait for the bus (that just left) for 10-15 minutes when you are already tired as compared to jumping in the GC and going right to your site is definitely an advantage. Again, not necessary, but very nice to have if you can afford it.

Thanks! Is it significantly cheaper to rent offsite? Is there a website for Tee Time? I can't seem to find one.

Disney carts are $65 with tax per day. Tee Time is about $35-40 per day but you have to go off-property to pick it up and return it unless one of their customers is returning it the day you arrive. TT will take you through all those options closer to your arrival. Here's their webbie:

IMO golf carts are not necessary - they are an expensive convenience. But it's your money.

It IS significantly cheaper to rent OFF SITE. My 8 day rental is $280. Had to put 20% down (Non-refundable) and balance gets billed 10 days out which is also the cancellation period. If you don't cancel before that time, then there is an additional fee to cancel.

They were awesome to deal with.

I also agree with ED above. They are not necessary and they are expensive, but they are nice to have. If you are going to spend the money, then I'd rather spend LESS of it. I will say that this will be my FIRST experience with Tee Time Rentals, and so far (based on the phone conversation) they were great to deal with.

I will also add that while everyone refers to how great "Kenny" is with Tee Time, it seems like "Kelley" is the one that everyone actually deals with and she was awesome.

Yes Tee Time is great!! We have used them many times on our trips to the campground. We did reserve our cart 4 months in advance but they will work with you on short notice but not sure how short. They have been in contact with us already for our upcoming arrival on the 8th of October. Great service and great people......
Ask for the "Red Rocket"
Obey the speed limit..............:moped: Disney PO PO is watching.... Always watching...........

9 days 3 hours and 30 minutes.......

Thanks everyone! I just called and was able to get one with Tee Time! It is less expensive than I thought, I think $35 a day will be worth the convenience and time saved.

cart1.JPG towVehicle.JPG Charger1.JPG Charger2.JPG We recently rented from Tee Time and I can echo the sentiments of others that they are great to deal with! The 4-seater we rented was fine. The only issue we had was simply getting the battery charger to kick on. The charger had been through some wars. Some wire jiggling and it eventually started. I alerted Tee Time about this and they appreciated the feedback. You do have to pick up the cart off site and return the tow vehicle back to them. They allow you 1 hour to complete the pick up and return (which is plenty of time). Here's a few pics of the cart, tow vehicle, and charger:

Thanks for the pics!

I think I had that same cart last Halloween. The charger is slow to kick on after plugging it in. I was late renting mine this year and Kelley said she was getting me one from an associate of theirs. I'm hoping it's a nice one.

We just got back from the Fort this past Monday. It was our first time visiting. We did rent a golf cart from the Fort and am glad we did so as it was very convenient. We were always on our schedule and not dependent on buses. I was not aware of Tee Time. What I understand is that while you do save money by going with Tee Time, the picking up and dropping off is inconvenient for us. I am in a Class A and do not visit with a Toad of any kind of which makes it difficult to pick up the golf cart, return the trailer within an hour, and then the reverse when the GC is returned. Does anyone know if they offer drop off and pick up?

TIA

I know they don't offer a drop off at the Fort. They used to but there were some "Issues" I think between Disney and Tee Time (because of Tee Times cost, it cuts into Disney's profits.).

Any way, the only solution I could possibly think of might be a taxi but of course that adds to the cost. I would suggest that if you are interested, that you call them directly and see what kind of arrangements could be made.

We are planning our next trip already as we are hooked on the Fort. Thanks for the response, I think I'll give Tee Time a call and see what they advise in my situation.

Thanks again.

I can say we LOVED having the golf cart. We rented from Tee time, but had the same issue Paarras, our charger was kinda shot and had to be wiggled a couple of times. I would rent from them again in a heart beat! Hope you have a great time!

We have our own golf cart..... are we able to bring it in with us when we come in May?

Thanks, just wanted to make sure. Been a forum member for a long time but always stayed other places.....will be our first time at the fort next May.
