Experiences: Marceline Tour Or Imagineer Lunch?

Hi Everyone,

I know the lunch is more expensive than the Marceline Tour, so without using costs for comparison, I'd like to know your opinion on what DH and me should do. Has anyone here done either or both? What do you think we'd enjoy more? I love that both experiences would help me learn more about Disney. I see that Marceline would enable us to get into MK earlier. But I also like that I'd be eating with an imagineer and have a chance to chat with him/her about his/her work.

Thanks!

I've done the Marceline tour, but I didn't like it very much. It had no backstage portions that I can recall. It was just going on a few rides as a group and in between that, listening to stories and narration. In the end I felt I had wasted my time on it. I've never done the lunch with an imagineer, but I'd like to sometime, and I think that would probably be more interesting.

Also, I live near Disneyland, so i'm not too focused on getting on a bunch of tides at MK. I'm thinking of doing a second day at Epcot instead of MK. If anyone lurking on this post has any recommendations feel free to chime in

I've experienced both, the Marceline tour just once, but Dining with an Imagineer multiple times. I bet you can guess which I'll be recommending. ;-)

Dining with an Imagineer at lunchtime is a great experience! The meal in the Bamboo Room at the Hollywood Brown Derby alone is worth the price! But there is so much more to the experience than that!

You'll have lunch with a group of guests and have an open conversation with an Imagineer who could be a media designer, an art director, a show writer, an environmental designer, or one of a plethora of other roles. Be prepared to ask more than "how do I become an Imagineer" though. There is so much more to learn than that.

Imagineers work on projects so ask about them. Most are somewhat nostalgic, so ask about their favorite attractions, memories, or other experiences might be. Inquire about what a typical day is for them. Ask them about what kinds of work inspires them. The more of an interest you take in your Imagineer, the more you'll get from this interaction.

To prepare, read up on Imagineering in books or on the web. Write down a list of questions in advance if that will help you in your conversation.

Every guest receives a signed plate to commemorate the event. And, for me, each experience has been great!

Great! I really appreciate your input as I don't know anyone who's done either of those!! Could you tell me more about the Marceline tour, though?

What I recall about the Marceline tour is going on some rides including Haunted Mansion, Carousel of Progress, Small World, and one or two others. I would have liked to go backstage but we didn't get to do that. Other than going on rides, the tour guide told stories about Walt Disney and the history of the Magic Kingdom.

I didn't really expect any backstage stuff, as I think that's explained in the description of the Marceline tour. I wouldve much preferred to try the Keys to the Kingdom tour, but I know my husband doesn't wanna spend 6 hours doing a tour when we're only in Disneyworld for a limited time. Plus I reserved alot of signature meals and pricey ADR's, so I thought doing the lunch thing would be overkill on food. But then again, if you think the marceline tour isn't that great, I can't afford to do lunch and marceline, so I'll just do the lunch :)
