Do they send a magic band for an infant? Does an infant need the magic band? I never used one so I am not sure again what they are for. I don't think I would want my infant to wear the magic band.

No, under age two they do not get one because you're not buying them a ticket. Their purpose is to allow you into the parks, rather than a ticket. The bands also work for fast pass linked to them and you're Advance dining reservation, as well as working as your "room key" if you are staying at a Disney resort. Personally, I think they're their pretty cool that they can be used for all that. Oh, and if you wanted to you can lol it to a credit card also and use the band for purchases. So you see it is very multi purpose!!

Your infant doesn't need one, but they will send you one for them, personalized even.

Someone may or may not have included her Trekkin' Turtle Filbert on a reservation and gotten him a personalized green magic band. :rolleyes1

Both times we have taken our son (20 months old), he has gotten a magic band. He was 3 months and 15 months on each trip. He is included on the reservation and therefore, he gets magic band. He didn't wear them, but he got one.

Same here...when my youngest was under 2 he received a magic band each time as he was listed on the reservation despite not needing a ticket. So, unless something has changed, the infant should get their own magic band.

Yes, we got one for my youngest every trip when he was 2 and under, even at 3 months old. They don't need it for anything, but they do get one. We did travel when he was 2 months shy of 3 so he didn't need it but he wore his every day since we all had them. He was also tall enough for some of the fast pass 40" rides and liked to tap his on the Mickey Head just like the rest of us.

Everyone on the reservation regardless of age will receive a magic band.
So yes even babies will.
The infant does not need one for any reason though so if you'd rather not have your child wear it then no problem.
You could even deny receiving the infant's magic band but why bother? It's a cute little personalized souvenir at the very least.

Magic bands are used as your room key, park ticket, for FP+, to use your dining credits, as a means to charge purchases back to your room reservation.... and much more.

Ok, I think 4 people have corrected
Me now. Thank you

Not sure if you were taking it the wrong way or not but I just wanted to make sure you had the proper info at your disposal for future reference in case for example you were to take an infant.
I realize that sometimes people may not come back to look at other poster's responses which is why I quoted you so that you'd definitely see it.
Sorry if you found my post overkill as other posters have mentioned that you do receive magic bands for infants.

I'm not positive, but I think I read that even an infant will need a magic band to enter Stormalong Bay at Y&BC. As others have stated, we will receive a band for our baby since she's on the reservation and I plan on bringing it to the pool just in case. I can't think of any other scenario where an infant would need one.

Good to know as we will be at Y&BC with our 18 month old twins in Nov! Thanks!
