Any tips for seeing the Halloween decorations?

Planning to spend an evening the last week in October touring Ft Wilderness with my Halloween obsessed son to see the decorations. We've done this, but it's been years and my memory is foggy. Any tips on how to go about seeing them? We are planning on taking the boat over from the MK. Is it doable for us to just walk around and see them? We don't mind walking. It's just the two of us, so no really little ones. Or will we need to use the bus? We were thinking of maybe combining it with the campfire, maybe doing the campfire first then touring the sites to see the decorations. I know you have to take the bus to get to the campfire area. Then would we take the bus back to the Pioneer Hall area and walk around from there? Do you think that would work? Any tips or suggestions would be so appreciated. We have been to Ft. Wilderness a few times, but I'm not super familiar with the layout. My 12 year old son LOVES Halloween and he sets up his own haunted house at home every year, so he is really excited to see the decorations.

The last time we were over there that time of year (probably six years or so ago) we did the haunted carriage ride where they told the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. They don't do that any more, do they? Any other things like that to check out? We won't actually be there on Halloween night.

Well I would imagine it would take about all day to walk all the loops. We stayed in the 1400 loop before and it was a short 5 -10 min walk to the campfire and about a 20 min walk from 1400 to the Pioneer Hall area on the main road.

Thanks. I know it's pretty big, so I didn't figure we'd be able to see all the loops. If we were going to spend a few hours walking around seeing the decorations, any suggestions on the best areas to do that?

Loops close to the campfire include the 1400, 600, 800, & 900. I would suggest you can hit these before or after the campfire.
If you are coming in by boat the 100 and 200 loops are easy access to the left after you get to the end of the boat dock and just past the Meadows. The 400 loop is also close by. After those 3 you can catch the bus to the 1400 loop before the movie.

If you look at a map you can see which loops are close by. You might not be able to see them all, but you can see a good bit of them but allow several hours for this.

Also note, for reference, that the Fort from Outpost to Settlement is about 1 mile, as the Crow Flies. So have a good pair of walking shoes.

Using the Bus to "View" the decorations isn't to feasible. They don't go into the loops so you would miss a whole lot. You could consider a Golf Cart rental. That's about $60.00 a day so it's pretty pricey, but of course you could spend that much on the HDDMR show as well (but you do get a meal with that!)

Any way, good luck, and I hope you and your DS have an awesome time.
