So this is super random but I'm obviously like most people on these boards a huge Disney fan... I've been frequenting all of your videos lately with your reviews, updates, ect...

And was just wondering how does one get a job with you guys?? I'm like the Disney guru for all my fam and friends and was just curious what it takes? Or is this all volunteer?

Any info would be great!

Thanks!

Jackie

It is very select and Pete interviews people when positions are available. There do appear to be none right now as the podcast is pretty full. Most have knowledge beyond Disney such as production or video editing. It also appears many also are travel agents for Dreams Unlimited or started there. DU takes application when they have areas to fill but usually require some travel agency experience as they want the best they can find.

A lot of what I posted is assumptions based on their how we got here videos. Some were interviewed and some have known Pete for a long time. Really just depends and is not an easy job to get.

There was a podcast on Dreams Unlimited that addressed working for the company. My personal takeaway was that one needed to have prior travel agent experience in order to work for Dreams Unlimited. However, there seem to be other ways of being involved in this community such as contributing as a forum responder or create thoughtful forum topics, author a review or essay, or become involved in local DISmeet for Give Kids the World charity.

So the norm seems to be either having a degree in film or communications, get hired by Dreams Unlimited and work your way into DisUnplugged, or marry the right person.

Id personally like to see a little more diversity within the staff that is involved with the podcast.

I'd say that's fair ...but not for diversity's sake. Personally, I could care less what someone's DNA is -and I'm fairly certain if the perfect candidate walked through the door, that person wouldn't be turned away(not that you're insinuating that).

True GAN, and the word diversity (ironically) has such a broad meaning today that it is almost meaningless. I am for diversity but not at a cost of talent and charisma, which is more important to the podcast than anyones appearance.

What they have now is a wide range social-economic people with great chemistry who share a passion for Disney and Orlando area attractions. Watching Craig, Kathy, and Ryno eating in HS last week you see three people with apparently nothing in common except their passion for Disney (and maybe one other thing).

You could always apply to be a blog contributor like a few of us are. All it requires is being able to write good articles. Where other jobs are heavy in the tech department, or with dreams that require travel agent experience. Also I think you will find a large number of folks who post here are "Disney Guru's". :P

Why would that even be a suggestion? Are you saying that because someone isn't white , they wouldn't have charisma? I think as long as the person is a lover of Disney they would be totally fine. The common thread is Disney. I think there is a great display of diversity in terms of age. Seems a bit heavy on the southern female Which is very different than the Northern or West Coast female. As for race there seems to be only white, though I could be wrong.

Don't make assumptions what peoples races / ethnic backgrounds are by the color of their skin.
