AP Price Increase?

Please excuse my ignorance as I'm new to all of this. We are wanting to upgrade our hoppers to a Platinum AP on our November trip. There is no way to upgrade online or over the phone, correct? Becsuse if what you are all saying about the increase being October is true then ill have to pay the higher price and just miss the current pricing, which totally stinks.

For upgrading, it has to be done at property.

Before you arrive the only option would be to change your reservation to a room only with tickets including whoever is getting an annual pass now but you may not find the same type of discount or discount in the same resort or room if your current package required tickets. The question really becomes which way works for you and lowest cost.

well my booking is a room only. as we got 6 day hoppers as a gift prior to booking our trip. They were purchased via the disney site.

you'd have to call to see what your options are since it's a gift.. I would think it wouldn't help you out. (btw, call them up anyway and see if you can get a bigger discount. You can get an AP discount without having an AP, your only requirement is to upgrade to an AP within 24 hours of check in).

Ok thank you. I will call and see about the discount and about upgrading

You can't upgrade the tickets but maybe they can do something like refund without returning the money to the seller and putting it towards new APs instead. btw, depending on when your trip is, the good discounts might not be out yet so you'll want to check in periodically with them to see if anything better has appeared. Generally the blogs and news sites cover that a discount came out to nkow when.

Oh I see. I'll look into it. We are there the 2nd week of November

I am betting Oct 2 will be the price change based on Oct 2 being a big Disney day- closing of some attractions, opening of others... seems like an impt day to WDW at least.

It's just the day after the anniversary. It'll most likely be the 5th or 12th. I've come to notice that the juicy news happens after the disunplugged tuesday show but a ticket price will start first thing in the morning so wednesday.. (pete you might want to consider wednesdays)

To say you're over analyzing this...
...is a bit of an understatement

nah, i don't flow charts and powerpoints to go along with it.. just someone who has a vested interest in family about to visit and get the best price for their ticket upgrade.

I feel your pain...
We have 5-Day Park Hoppers we plan to upgrade to AP's on November 8th so now we're going to have to pay even more. :guilty:
Good grief...

Does anyone remember what happened last year? I have the renewal option Florida Resident Platinum Pass, which expires on Oct 19. I was planning to wait until as close to that date as possible to renew ... last year, when they changed up APs, did they honor existing renewal offers or did those go away? I can't imagine my pass is going to go away, but I am afraid of it taking a $300+ dollar jump like the top-tier Disneyland pass did last year.

From what I read (from posters here) if you didn't upgrade prior to the price change they charged the higher amount. The only exception was if you had received a card in the mail with a renewal price actually listed on it. If so then they honored that price but only if you presented the card with the price in person to renew.

This is how it has been in the past. Since you are in your renewal window (60 days before expire date) you can renew at current price and it will be good for another year. As long as you do it before the price increase. We just purchased our APs (we took a year off) to get in before the price increase.

Is there expected to be a large increase coming soon?

Not sure if it will be large, but it's almost time for the annual increase. Expect one in October. Could be large, could be small - we won't know until they release prices.

Ok thank you. We are upgrading to an AP in November. If it goes up too much it might not happen for us then. I wish I could upgrade via phone or online.
