Buying An Interactive Wand Question

THANK YOU! We would almost certainly be in the same position of purchasing multiple wands to collect dust when we get back home!

Are there photos of the birthday month wands anywhere on the boards? My kids have July and August birthdays-so she is chosen for the show my DD would participate but in the end get a "July" wand?

I think I saw them on the Universal merch store online. I don't think they do the birth month wand for the show though, they have no way of knowing what month you were born and they don't ask during the show. Most of the wands that aren't character wands are the "birth" wands, so you can ask an employee what wand is for what month and they will find it for you. The wand during the show is just a random wand from the collection (and I believe I was told I could pick a different wand when we went to purchase, but that wand "chose" me so I had to get that one, lol)

Here's the wands available online, which I think is the same as what is in the parks. You can look up what wood type matches your birth month and then find it here:

For example, http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Wand_wood says for my birthday, my wand should be oak. But I think it's a little different at the park, cause it doesn't look like the one I was shown when trying to find my birth wand, but it could have changed.

i am sure you could look up pictures via Google. I'm on my cell now and my google-fu diminishes. :)

It's based on the questions answered, and you don't have to buy the wand at the end at all. You can buy, if you choose, any wand you want.

Fwiw the wands at my house do get played with a bit. They are loved. But it irks me. :). Doesn't irk them though.

Once you have the wand how do you find out how and where to use them? Thanks!

When DS did it they asked and it was definitely the month he said (which was his dad's birth month because they were pretending like if it wasn't HIS birth month he wouldn't want it).

This was our first year of doing the show and interactive wand. Son is 10 and he got chosen. We were the first in our group to enter, only by chance. My son was wearing a nike shirt and a steelers lanyard, so no reason there unless the TM was a fan. He was not asked his birthday.
And another side note on how to actually get the wand to do the spells... on the little markers on the ground is the motion of the wand. My son got his wand yesterday afternoon and I only figured that out this morning lol.

Good you saw the markers on the ground while you were still on vacation

Would have been awful if you found out about the markers after you returned home from the trip

I had read (and said) that the lockers don't fit the wands, but we had no problems fitting the wand (in its box, in a bigger backpack) into the lockers last week.
The wands come in different sizes (just like in the books - except the numbers don't match). If you check the Universal merchandise web site, you'll see that Hermione's wand comes in a 15 1/2" box while Harry's is in a 14 1/2" box. Dumbledore's is in a 17 1/4" box. The wands of course are a bit shorter than the box, but it's not consistent. So that's likely why some people find they fit, and others don't.

The measurements above are for the interactive versions. The non-interactive versions seem to be a bit longer, to my surprise.

Also, in the books, I believe Harry's is longer than Hermione's. So much for accuracy.
