Solo Advice needed for Memory Maker

Hello,

Going solo for the first time. I've never purchased Memory Maker before. Any thoughts on having this when you are solo? My thought is that since I will be alone, it will be a good way to get some nice pictures of myself. Since I have never used this feature I'd like some thoughts on people who have.

Thank you so much!

Our trips are 99% just hubby and myself. We go twice a year and always get Memory Maker. We get tons of photos with the both of us.
My tactic is to "stalk" the photopass photographers. We stop at every one we see. We tell them we have MM, please take lots of photos. We are willing to be silly, serious, creative. Have fun with us. We also always ask for Magic shots. Maybe balloons, or Tinkerbelle in your hand or Pascal on your shoulder. Allears.net has a list of photopass locations and what Magic shot that location may have. It is not 100% up to date, but it is a huge help.
If I were going on a solo trip, I would definitely get MM.

I love MM as a solo! I would never ever purchase ride photos so for me it's worth it just for those. It also means I get to indulge myself with character meets because otherwise I wouldn't have to excuse to do it :D and who doesn't want a picture in front of the castle....

I found Memory Maker most useful during the Halloween party, since there were extra photo opportunities there.

It is now included with annual passes, so it's no longer a decision for me at this point, but if I were deciding, I'd probably do it again for a Halloween or Christmas party, but maybe skip it at other times. You can always ask someone in the area to take a picture of you.

The inclusion of MM in the upper levels of AP is a deal sealer for us. We'd be spending the $150 twice a year for MM anyway, so BAM - almost like a $300 savings.
The once we are home from our trip, all the fun edits your can do. Add borders and "autographs". Crop, add b&w filters. We typically end up with 500 + photos from our 6 day trip.

Love this thread.
I've been debating the same thing since I'll be traveling solo in the fall. There are a few days I'll meet up with some friends for group photos and I'll be attending MNSSH so this is even better.
Might be nice to have actual photos for once (especially since I've already lost 20lbs since my last visit).
Live it up!

#1 Congrats! :-)

In the past six years or so, we have only not gotten MM once. We regretted it immensely. As a solo traveler, I could not imagine not having it.

I had MM for my solo trip in 2015 because I knew even thought I could ask someone to take my photo, I wouldn't. If you don't take a ton of firework/show/touristy pictures then it's fabulous b/c you don't have to carry around a camera and can end up with hundreds of awesome photos with characters, rides, and scenery (and magic shots).

For a short trip - I wouldn't buy it separately. Have the Photopass photographers not only take your picture with their camera, but also with your camera. Suddenly - you have photos of yourself. Now - if attending one of the parties on a short trip and you plan to see characters - then maybe I'd suggest it.

For a longer trip - let's say 6 days or longer - then it can be worth it. One key to making this worth it - ask about Magic Shots - and change up your pose. And ask a lot of photographers! Standing nice and tall with your hands folded in front of you gets really boring to look at after a while. Move those arms, change that stance, make some silly faces, mimic your favorite character poses, act like a model. Really. There is nothing more boring than 100+ photos of yourself looking pretty much the same!

I agree with DISbot. I specifically purchased MM because I'm a solo. I highly recommend it. The best thing were the videos! If you ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, you will get a video of your ride with you in all your glory. It was a blast to see it. I also searched out the character meet and greets so I could get photos through MM. I would definitely do it.

I love the Memory Maker. I am so looking forward to it on my next trip with 5 other people. I have used it successfully on a solo trip, and gotten more than enough pics to make it worth the cost.

I always get it as a solo, mostly because I love meeting characters (I also ask the handlers to take pics with my phone). I didn't use it as much this year as I could/should have. If you purchase MM, make sure you take time to get all the pics you can, magic shots, etc.

The majority of my trips are just me and my granddaughter. Love the memory maker. To get the most out of it tho take the time to stop at the photo pass people not just ride pics. Also remember to ask about magic shots. Some will do them automatically but we've found the bigger percentage you have to specifically ask.

Awesome advice, thanks for sharing!! We're taking our first trip just hubby and I this December!
