Which Universal Park?

Considering doing a quick spring break trip and doing only LegoLand and 1 of the Universal Parks.

Any opinions on which Universal park is better/more fun than the other for an adventurous 6yr old?

I'm leaning towards the one that has the Jurassic World ride as my little guy digs dinosaurs.

We have family around the Orlando area, but wouldn't chose to stay with them - any suggestions on safe hotel's between Universal & LL. 3-4 *

Thanks!!

I would do islands of adventure, as it has the large Dr. Seuss area and the large Jurassic play area. The Harry Potter area also has a kids coaster.

Agree on IOA. We're two adults and prefer Universal because we find IOA is better geared towards families, with the Dr. Seuss area. Also FWIW, the main Jurassic Park ride is a water one and kids have to be 42" tall to ride. There are other Jurassic Park attractions in the park, however.

I can't speak to any off property hotels but I always recommend Universal resorts. If you stay at one of their deluxe properties, you'll receive unlimited express pass. Not to mention, they're all very convenient for walking to the parks and City Walk, and they have great amenities and pools.

There are some great kid rids at IOA. Plus I think it's more fun overall, for teens and adults. I love Pteranodon Flyers and your son will too.

I would also recommend IOA. In addition to all the good reasons already mentioned, your little guy would also have the chance to meet Spiderman and an assortment of other Superheros in the Marvel area.

Would you recommend staying someplace like the Drury Inn & Suites or would it be better to stay onsite for 2/3 nights too see IOA & SeaWorld?

Thanks! I am enjoying reading your trip report!!

Thank you for the kind words! :goodvibes

If the budget allows, the complimentary Express offered by the Universal deluxe hotels is well worth it (not to mention the proximity to the Universak parks....so awesome!). What are your travel dates?

Since it will just my son & I this trip, I want to make sure we are in a safe location and feel the most comfortable out and on our own.

I would definitely keep it easy and stay onsite at Universal, then. The hotels are lovely and the Express Passes are SO nice to have! Especially during March Break, which can be busier with northern families all travelling to the south for a much-deserved reprieve from winter.

Yes!!!! I can't believe I left that part out. You get to meet Captain America, Dr Doom, Spiderman, Wolverine, etc. It's so much fun. And the lines are nothing like they are at Disney M&Gs. IOA is just the best of the best.

IOA as well, and any of the Rosen hotels are a good choice and not too pricey.
