Road Closures Half-Marathon Weekend?

Pretty sure we did this path for Star Wars just this year.

Sounds really familiar.

I know for a fact that the 10K route at Tink also canvased ALL of Downtown Disney. In fact, every non-half race I've done at Disneyland basically runs from the Esplanade straight through all of Downtown Disney to the finish area at the DLH.

So, it couldn't have been that big of a deal because they've adjusted accordingly with the crosswalks and such. :confused3

I've had sleep now, and definitely know that we ran through dtd. DH and DS did for the SW 5k because I had to traverse dtd with their clever ways of crossing everyone. They first crossed the esplanade from park to park then later came out and ran though dtd to the finish. I didn't time it right at all and had to wait for their clever crossing system and missed their finish.

Then I did the same basic stuff for the 10k, and then had to traverse it as a walker to get my cup of coffee (yelling that in my head like Brendan Fraser in The Mummy ride at Universal).

So there was nothing so wrong about the dtd portion that they stopped doing it. They did invent clever ways to cross in a controlled fashion, though

Yup, every 5 and 10K goes the length of DTD. I have friends who mobile order at the 3 mile mark and dart in to get drinks at Starbucks in DTD. They either come out the soaring side during Star Wars or the Disneyland maingate for the Disneyland Half.

They stop in while still "running"? I think they are my heroes. :rotfl:

Let me clarify, I was referring to the Half-Marathon.

The 5 and 10K runs are smaller in size, and since they are shorter, the last finishers end early enough to not make an impact to those headed to the parks.

The half-Marathons are the big events, and based on its length and ending time (runners are planned to make it to the finish line by 11 AM).

So the larger amount of runners and need to keep the course open longer makes it infeasible to use DtD on Sunday mornings.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.

And I should state, I have never ran the full course. I have covered it as a photographer though, where I worked the start, then caught a ride to Angel Stadium to cover that segment, and then worked my way down the course to the finish. (A fellow photographer stayed at the Start/Finish to get those shots). So I have walked most of the course, some of it backwards, and know it quite well.
