FL resident and Passholder Discounts?

I haven't camped at the Fort for many, many years. Basically since the value resorts went in. :o

Do they still offer discounts to FW sites when they come out with specials? The sites have really gone up in price since I've looked at them. More expensive the some of the resorts. I'd really like to experience the FW life again, but want a better price.

With the other resorts, I just reserve and then watch for specials. Every time a better one comes out, I call and have it applied to my reservations. I have my Pop Century room down to $86 now from $130. Can I do the same with FW?

I know that discounts on the campsites are almost unheard of these days. The prices have really shot up over the last few years.

Very few and for short periods of time. FW stays full so no need to discount.

They certainly have! I was shocked when I looked before I wrote this post. Stinks that they don't discount them. :sad2:

I had a gut instinct this was going to be the case. I tried to make reservations for for a couple of slow weeks next year and found zero availability. I didn't try past that, but since the weeks I tried were some of the slowest of the year, it was disheartening.

Even without the any discounts, I would pay the price to be able to cook our own food properly. We don't eat Disney food and the most I've had the nerve to bring with us in a resort room is a small microwave and coffee pot. We brew coffee in the morning, then clean and cool the pot and pack away so mousekeeping never even sees that.

I'm not renting anything with a kitchen due to price. Although, in my perfect world I would have a toaster oven, stove, crock pot, and grill. Do they even let people grill at the Fort anymore? I have seen the restrictions on fire pits they have now.

Looks like I'll have to not only bite the bullet on price, but be very aggressive about getting a site at all if I want to have my own kitchen. Times sure have changed.

RVing in our MH at FW = being at home while being away from home. Even staying at OKW in a 1 bedroom or the Tree Houses does not equal the peace, comfort we feel while being in our MH and as such is worth the price of admission for a camp site. The simple fact of being ON PROPERTY at Disney adds that extra incentive to pinch pennies or dollar$ :worship: to stay at FW.

There are Florida Resident specials for September available right now. Was looking for this weekend 9/2-9/4 and it popped up (did not include Labor day), but I extended through 9/9 just to see if the special was still there and it was. $41.50 tent; $54.00 full; $62.75 pref; $66.50 prem. Can't believe there are sites available for this weekend, I guess people cancelled because of the storm.

We tent camp quite often at the Fort. I bring with me a whole kitchen. They have grills on each site that we have used. I pack with me a surge protector + outdoor extension cord then I bring my Keurig (you can bring a normal coffee pot, the Keurig works better for my family). I also bring my coleman camping stove, and all my camping kitchen items. We make full meals at Disney no problem. I have read of others leaving the crock pot all day as well on the picnic tables with no problems. An RV makes things a little easier, but we don't have one (although we are renting for our upcoming trip).

They do have some discounts going through the end of September

I do agree! We can't afford a motorhome, just a pop-up. Even in a tent, I prefer to be surrounded by my own belongings that I'm comfortable using. There is a lot to be said about sleeping your own bed, with your own sheets as well. :thumbsup2

Thanks, those are some great prices! Unfortunately, we can't do weekends as we decided to save on our annual passes and go with weekday only ones. Normally, we would still stay weekends and enjoy things things on site, but our new pop-up is not quite ready to go yet. Hopefully by October. We have reservations in Dec. at POP, but would much rather be at the Fort.

I would love to see photos of your set up! I have seen some amazing FW kitchens at sites. I wasn't sure if they took out the grills when they starting allowing approved fire pits. Glad they are still there. We are mostly tent campers as well. I just bought a pop-up so we can still have the option of camping on the tent loops.

When we tent camped many years ago at FW, I always used my crock pot and just left it on the picnic table. I had four kids and the parks were tiring. It was great to come back to a home cooked meal all ready to eat. Back then, I never had the idea to bring the things I have seen photos of on the internet. I will now! Even though we have a pop-up, most cooking will still be done outside.

In the past, we have stuck to preparing most of our own food due to expense. Now, I am on a special diet and would rather have control of everything food-wise. I know Disney will cater to special diets, but I still feel their food is a waste of money. We rarely eat at restaurants at home either. It's kind of like flushing money down the toilet.

When we lived up north and would come down for a once a year (or less) vacation, we would enjoy one meal per day at Disney restaurants. Now that we live down here and go all the time, we just bring groceries for 100% of our food.
