just wondering if anyone has heard about Magic Kingdom becoming smoke free as of 2018. I'm in the ark now and that's the rumor. I don't know if it will be just MK, all parks or if this is just a rumor.

There is only one smoking area inside the Magic Kingdom now, by Thunder Mountain RR. There is also one outside the Magic Kingdom, before you go through the turnstiles.

I stand corrected, was not aware of the one over by the speedway. Good to know for next week's trip!

There is a third one but it's outside the park between the wilderness lodge/ft wlderness boat and the ferry to TTC. i've liked stopping there quick and then heading into the park.. I find the tree being gone doesn't really bother me anymore..

My mom is a smoker and had no problem during the trip she joined us on in January. WDW has just the right balance between protecting nonsmokers and accomodating smokers, by providing a few, out-of-the-way areas for them to smoke in each park and resort. It worked for her (even though she's 72 & used a scooter due to knee problems) and caused no one else any problems.

I don't see WDW switching to a draconian total smoking ban anytime soon. They're not looking to drive guests out of the park. It's just a rumor.

I know this is a heated debate from both sides and everyone is entitled to their opinion ... BUT ... The smoking areas are soooo full and over flowing why would they take some away? people are already overflowing into the " non smoking" sections. they need to put in a couple more in maybe some better out of the way places.

I am not a smoker and am allergic to cigarette smoke. Our local zoo just went smoke free. I don't think Disney will do this because people spend many days there and smokers are going to need to smoke somewhere. People only spend a day or part of a day at the zoo. I don't see Disney denying this to them. Also if you don't provide areas -some people will smoke in areas they shouldn't. (I am aware some people do this anyway too). Just my opinion. For the most part people smoking in permitted areas doesn't affect me even with my issues.

As a non-smoker who is allergic to smoke, I wouldn't be against this one bit. HOWEVER, Disney has little to gain but something to lose if they get rid of their smoking areas at this time. Disney goes to great lengths to accommodate all kinds of guests, so turning them away would be a departure from the norm.

The only reason I could see for getting rid of a smoking area would be to make room for another attraction or show, which would surely bring in more guests than a smoking ban would turn away.

I love people that say they are allergic to 'smoke'. There is no such thing. A person can have a sensitivity to smoke but not an allergy. If you have a sensitivity to smoke them camp fires, cook-out, even high temperature indoor cooking can be irritants.

PS... I'm not a smokers but I do have a daughter with lots of allergies. Yes, smoke can be an iratant.

As someone who hasn't smoked a cigarette in almost 2 years (smoked 2 packs a day for 16 years before that) thanks to vaporizers, I wish they'd be more accommodating to vaporizer users. In MK specifically, I wish there'd be 2 or 3 smoking sections, and at least double the amount of areas where vaping is permitted. I shouldn't have to go into a crowd of smokers just because what I do looks like smoke. I understand not being able to user the vaporizer in public areas, since some people won't like it just because it has a visual effect, but the more Disney removes smoking/vaping sections, the more people are going to do it in public.
