I'm not sure where to post this so if you anyone thinks it should be post in another forum, please let me know.

I have a tripped booked for October 1 to 8. I have already made my final payment although it is not due until September 1st. I did not purchase trip insurance. My grandmother is very bad off and I feel the need to purchase the trip insurance now just to be on the safe side. I would hate to be gone to Disney and something happen to her. I have never purchased trip insurance before. My question is what is the best place to purchase trip insurance? Do I go through Disney? Is there another place better to buy insurance? Is all trip insurance coverage about the same? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

By any chance, did the credit card you use to book Disney already include some sort of insurance?

You have to get a waiver for pre existing conditions. The waiver includes the traveling party, relatives and business partners with known pre existing health conditions. The insurance company reserves the right to look back in health records to see if the condition is known. They can then refuse to pay. Most insurance companies will only offer a pre existing waiver if you buy the policy within 10 days of your first deposit payment. Nationwide Trutravel is good but they are also one of the ones that require the first 10 days for pre existing medical or cancel for any reason. You could try to call Insure my trip.com and speak to one of their agents.

It sounds like you need coverage/protection from trip cancellation due to your grandmother's situation? Or is she also traveling with you and she needs the in trip insurance coverages?

Here is an article that helped us understand WHEN to buy (the latest is at final deposit) and PRE EXISTING CONDITIONS. http://www.thediabetescouncil.com/diabetes-travel-insurance-guide/

We took and used the #1 rated CSA Travel Insurance but called them 800-874-2442 to get advice from an agent directly. The CSA website www.csatravelprotection.com was confusing/limited. We did the research on the travel insurance shopper sites (insuremytraip), etc and found CSA most affordable but there are others.

No she is not traveling with me. I would just hate to loose my money if something happened to her and we were not able to take the trip or have to leave early.

I will look in to those. Thank you so much!

We used insuremytrip in past. The pre existing clause would be paramount in ur situation. If u go to their website you can compare offerings. There are likely very limited choices, but Some policies are generally available until you are actually leaving ( they cost more)
And reading the EXCLUSIONS is really the Most important part of the policy ( if it's Not EXcluded, it's Incluuded)
Be sure you follow the guidelines ( such as insuring the whole trip... Car service?, hotel, flight, etc) as that it typically required as well.
We Did have to use the insurance once and we were able to get back thousands of dollars we would have lost out on. Well worth it!
Here's hoping u can get what you need but NOT have to utilize it. Blessings to ur grandma.
??Not sure why part of my post is blocked. But the site we used is posted under cargo13.

Thanks for the replies. I called Disney and they told me if it was between 2 and 29 days prior to the trip it would only cost $200 to cancel and $50 to reschedule to another time. They stated when there is a death they will work with you. However, it was not needed, my grandmother passed away on Thursday. :(
