B Resort / Hilton at Disney Springs -- soundproofing OK?

I'm seriously considering staying at a Disney Springs hotel for our next trip and have been looking at the B Resort and Spa as well as the Hilton.

Are the rooms relatively soundproofed at these places? Of course they don't have to be totally soundproof! But I just want to make sure they don't have paper-thin walls like the WDW Values do, since I found that out the hard way!

ETA: I just noticed that both these resorts are not that far from I-Drive. Is there a lot of traffic noise?

Thanks so much for any info!

You don't need to worry about I-Drive...it's Interstate 4. The Hilton Lake Buena Vista (LBV), Holiday Inn Disney Springs, B Resort, and DoubleTree Suites are all adjacent to I-4. Here is an aerial photo courtesy of Bing Maps:

The Hilton LBV is at the bottom left and the B Resort is at the top right of the photo.

It's been 20 years since I stayed at what is now the B Resort. Hopefully someone else can answer for that hotel. I have stayed recently at the Hilton LBV. You want to avoid any room with a connecting door. The walls are fairly soundproof, but the connecting doors are not. You will hear everything in the connecting room. Also, avoid any room directly above where the buses pick up to go to the theme parks.

As far as traffic noise, it never bothers me. Besides the Hilton LBV, I've stayed at the Holiday Inn (shown above in the middle) and the DoubleTree Suites (which is just off the photo) on the I-4 side. The noise from I-4 is constant and bit like white noise. You won't really hear it at the Hilton or DoubleTree, as the windows don't open. I only heard it at the Holiday Inn when I had the balcony door open.

Unsolicited Advice: The Hilton LBV is a very average hotel. It is almost never worth the price plus resort fee that they charge. I've stayed there roughly 40+ nights in the past two years. I've never had a problem-free stay. Some of the problems became so annoying (ignored "Do Not Disturb" signs, grounds-keeping running leaf blowers prior to 7am within 40 feet of my window) I will basically won't return, even though I'm a Hilton elite-level guest who gets free breakfast and possible upgrades.

The B Resort gets positive reviews by some folks here. I've had two great stays at the Holiday Inn Disney Springs. But, my go-to hotel is the DoubleTree Suites. Every room is a suite and the staff is friendly and competent.

writerguyfl--Thanks so much. I had the highway's name wrong--this is what happens when you haven't driven in Orlando for a couple of decades!

Re the DoubleTree Suites: Can I assume that noise isn't an issue there? Either between rooms or from the highway? I'm used to staying on site that I don't know what to expect from an off-site hotel.

Thanks again for your detailed and thoughtful reply.

And if anyone has info about the B Resort's noise levels, I'd appreciate it.

I'm glad I could help. I have lots of experience with these Disney Springs Hotels. Although I'd love to stay at a Disney resort, the cheaper prices here mean I can make my lodging dollars stretch further at one of these hotels.

If you haven't already checked, be sure to look at the Disney Springs Hotels marketing association website. That site has discounts only available there. Depending on your dates, you may stumble into a great deal. (One of the quirks of that site is that not all of the deals can be seen on the "Special Offers" page. Instead, select an individual hotel from the "Our 7 Hotels" tab and then click on "Special Offers & Packages" located under the hotel photos.)

I've stayed in DoubleTree rooms with a view of I-4. Since the windows don't open, the noise from the highway isn't much of a factor. As for connecting doors there, I always request a room without one. On the one stay when that wasn't possible, the connecting door wasn't a problem. Those doors are in the living room portion of the suites...so that puts them an extra 6-8 feet from the beds. (Although, I may just have had quiet neighbors on that stay.)

And if anyone has info about the B Resort's noise levels, I'd appreciate it.

There are a few regulars on this forum that have stayed at the B Resort. I believe that HopperFan will be able to answer your question. She or he will most likely see this thread today or tomorrow and provide an answer.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone who's stayed at the B Resort might still answer. Thanks in advance!

 HopperFan here - sorry I was at ............ DISNEY WORLD followed by vegetating on the beach. Just home.

The B resort is one of the original hotels built and built solid. The rooms are large like they used to build them. We have stayed several times, we have been in the tower facing DS, in the poolside patio rooms and in wing room that faced the parking lot and I-4. We have never been aware of any highway noise unless we were outside at the parking lot. Asking for non-connecting is always a good idea as writerguyfl said, in any hotel, as I think that is where most noise creeps through. We love the boutique style there, the rooms are relaxing spa feel and everyone has always been extremely nice and friendly. Each trip I wish we had more down time to enjoy the pool area and dining. Always determine if your rate is inclusive or not of the resort fee and parking fee. They do run specials where they are waived - or your rate may be so low that even with those it's still reasonable. I know right now I can book as low as $71 plus fees. Not bad.

Love Doubletree as well. The newly renovated suites are well done and I love the setup of the living room and bedroom side by side. It makes the walls of glass windows so inviting. Great plan. Have faced the highway and DS. I was surprised that the highway rooms were so quiet because it is noisy at the pool which is on that side. But we rarely use the pools on our trips. Doubletree only has a parking fee.

I would stay in either one in a heartbeat and honestly, unless I needed the extra sofabed (B does have rooms with single sleeper which we liked) I would book either in a heartbeat, price would dictate. One trip I stayed at Doubletree, then POFQ, then a Marriott timeshare and finished up with B Resort. :goodvibes

Also check out Mousesavers, they have deals with several of these hotels that at times is the best price.

^THIS. The only way I can go as often as I go is to shop the bargains while not giving up the quality I want. My last trip was ASSports, but I had zero room time, and it was the best price I found around. Disney Springs hotels are great options to "stay somewhat in the bubble" and save money. And walking to Disney Springs is a real plus especially now.

HopperFan! Thanks so much for your response. The board is lagging like crazy on my computer--this is my fourth attempt to respond--or I'd say a whole lot more.

I'm at the DoubleTree Suites right now. It was a spontaneous trip. One of the main reasons I decided to come is that the room rate is $79/night.

I got an adblocker for my pc. What a difference. Now I can post here!

Wow, everyone. The rates you're quoting are fantastic. They're much higher for both of the dates I've been looking at--latish mid-December and late January. I've been looking through mousesavers and other discounts, but I'll keep checking.

HopperFan: I notice that you've stayed at a few of the Values. I stayed at ASMusic once and had 5 sleepless nights because of the paper-thin walls. We did have a connecting room but really I don't think we would've heard our neighbors (next door and overhead--it's not like they were especially obnoxious) if we'd been in a better-sound-insulated resort. I live in an apartment, so I'm used to a certain amount of neighborly noise, but this was intolerable. And I was at the end of a hallway and heard every single rolling luggage cart that went by. So as cute and convenient as ASMusic was, I promised myself I'd never stay in a Value again. I have to sleep at night! Hence my concern about the B Resort and other DS locations.

We wouldn't have a car with us. Will that make staying at one of the DS hotels difficult? I'm very used to Disney transit, and I gather that the DS hotels' buses don't run as often.

Thanks, everyone, for your posts and info!

I tend to travel at off-peak times, which helps keep the hotel costs lower. And, I also avoid weekends, as they are busier and more expensive. So, the prices I quote are bottom of the barrel.

One of the benefits of the Disney Springs shuttle system is that it runs on a schedule. It runs every 30 minutes. In my experience, it is quite punctual. In comparison, Disney buses tend to show up when they show up. That's great if you get lucky. If not, you'll be stuck waiting 20 minutes.

There are two negative aspects to the Disney Springs buses. First, the Magic Kingdom stop is actually at the Transportation and Ticket Center. Having to take a ferry or monorail to get to the main entrance tends to get old.

The second problem is that each route visits two theme parks. Typically, it's Magic Kingdom and Disney's Animal Kingdom on one route. The second goes to Epcot, then Disney's Hollywood Studios. Having to detour to can be annoying. But, it's not a deal breaker for me. It only seems to add 15ish minutes to the trip.

Some people don't like that each bus route picks up at multiple hotels. (The "A" route is for the Hilton Lake Buena Vista, Holiday Inn, B Resort, and DoubleTree Suites. The "B" side is the Best Western, Wyndham, and Buena Vista Palace.) For me, this set up is not an issue. These hotels are literally next to each other. For example, the distance between the Holiday Inn and B Resort takes less than 1 minute on the bus. And, the hotels are much smaller than Disney resorts, which means there are usually only a few people getting off/on the bus. The only time stops take awhile is if there are ECVs and/or wheelchairs.

writerguyfl: I think that the end of January (after MLK weekend) is also off-peak, but I'm not seeing impressively low rates at this point. I'll keep checking.

As much as it weirds me out to think of not staying on-site--I haven't stayed off-site since the late '80s!--I'd rather do that than not go at all. I definitely need my Disney fix.

From your description (and others I've read), the buses sound okay to me.

Thanks so much again.

Yes, keep checking. I think it's a little too early for the winter discounts. The Disney Springs hotels seem to only offer discounts for the current and subsequent "seasons". We're in the tail end of summer, which means they have summer and fall discounts. I'd guess that discounts that run into early 2017 will likely show up some time this month.
