Anyone else have a tall daughter?

DD is tall compared to me- she is 5'3" and I'm only 5'. She is the shortest of all her friends, but she feels giant when she comes home because I have her reach stuff in the second shelf of the kitchen cabinets for me. DH is in charge of the top shelf- he's the super tall one in the family at 5'10".

My DD is 5'10"
DDIL is 6' and DS is 6' 4" so expecting DGD to be very tall. She is 3 and 42" tall now

At one time I was a big volleyball nut, and of course height is an advantage. I've me quite a few of these 6'3" or taller girls, and many still are still total girly girls, wearing lots of pink, giggling all the time, with girly walking.
What is girly walking?

My 7-year-old is 4'9" so I'm curious to see just how tall she winds up. My brother, her uncle, is 6'5" (5'4" for me) and her maternal great-grandfather was 6'3". No history of tall women on either side of her family (her "father" nor his family participate in her life so I only know his nuclear family stats).

My DD just turned 12 in June and is 5'6 1/4". She is the tallest girl on her cheer team, but def not the tallest in her grade. There are several girls taller than her.

If you believe the "growth calculator predictors" that rely on the height of the parents, DD was supposed to be 5'5". I am 5'7" and DH is 5'11". So she has already surpassed that, but I'm thinking she is pretty much done. She was 5'5" a few months ago, so this is probably her last growth spurt. She became a "woman" lol in May, and I've heard that once that monthly friend starts to visit, you are pretty close to the end of your height growth? (not sure where I heard that from so I could be wrong!) But she has always been tall for her age.

FWIW, DS16 was always well over the 100%-ile for height growing up and towered over everyone his age. Until he turned about 13 or so. All the boys sprung up and his height growth was slow and steady. He is now only 5' 11" and is hoping and praying that he is not done growing. He wants to be in the low 6's for his sport. I feel bad for him - he went through years of hearing the "don't play so rough, he is smaller than you (while the other kid got to pound away on DS)" lectures from all of the adults in his life lol, and now a lot of those kids are taller than him!

Yeah, rule of thumb is 2 more inches after you get your period. True for my DDs. DD15 is 5'1" and people tell her she might grow more, but inwardly I'm thinking, I highly doubt it when she's 4.5 years into puberty.

DD17 is close to 5'8" so not particularly tall, but it's all in her torso so she sits very tall. Jeans aren't hard to find but junior dresses barely cover her bottom. As a track runner, she wishes more of her height was in her legs.

My 10 year old DD is 5'5". Tallest in her class and has been since Kindergarten. I'm 5'6" and her dad is 5'10", so no height there. Sometimes I have to stop and remind myself she is only 10!

I'm 5'10".

Not gonna lie: it was rough growing up the tallest in my class and being tall in high school. My mom is 5'5", my dad is 6'3". Now, I love it!

My oldest DD is also 6'2"-reached 6' by freshman HS year and slowly grew another couple inches over next year. Hopefully she is done growing now that she is 18.
She is also a Disney Princess at heart - and hopes to apply for Disney CP for next fall (freshman in college this fall).
She was in marching band but no sports-we had her in martial arts up until she was 8 as she was so much taller than kids her age and she was really awkwardly clumsy-helped alot with balance.
I joke about getting her a Tshirt that says Questions? on the front with answers on the back:
1-6'2"
2-No I don't play any sports
3-No I don't model
4-yes weather is fine up here.

She is also just hit 130# (yay for getting over the 130# mark-she eats like a linebacker but had difficulty actually gaining weight. I am an RD and actually calculated her calorie intake one day->3000 calories, but with marching band she was working them off just as fast) so finding tall and fit well clothes a challenge-has had the best luck ordering jeans and pants from Maurices as they have waist and length measurements. Finding shorts that cover decently have been a huge challenge (she doesn't want 1/2 her bum hanging out with those 1/2 in inseam!) but Maurices and Target both will carry shorts that have 1" or more inseam. Feet are size 10 so she is lucky enough to usually find good shoes on sales racks:)

She grew so fast we had issues with her randomly passing out-didn't matter if she had eaten or not, was sitting or walking etc. Went through multiple workups (she also had random chest pains) and was followed by pediatric cardiologist until about 17 years old-nothing ever found (although her chest bone does curve in a bit doesn't seem to affect her heart) and finally diagnosed with "autonomic nervous system disorder"-meaning they had no clue but thought she would likely grow out of the passing out; and it seems she has so far in past 2 years no episodes.

My middle DD is tall for her age but not tallest in her class-in fact her younger brother will likely be taller soon.
I am 5'7" and DH is 6'2".

My DD14 and I are almost 5'10. Her older brothers are 6'4" so she's hoping she has another growth spurt in her. She's a swimmer and people always are surprised she's not a basketball or volleyball player. Somebody told her once she was wasting her height!

My 16 year old is right around 5'10"/5'11". Thankfully, she fits in ladies size 10 shoe.

I'm 5'2". Dh is 6'4". She takes after him and has been a head taller than me for years and years.

My DD just turned 8 so she's young yet - last measuring was 4'8" but i know she's grown since then. She's predicted to be between 5'10 and 6'. (I'm 5'9" and DH is 6'5"). But she's still always the tallest. I know she will get the sports question but she has no interest in sports - she's a graceful dancer. she did have a hard time last year because in the 6-8 year old class she was so much taller than all of the other girls but I told her it was in her favor because her lines were much more expressed and she stood out on stage.
I'm appreciative to this thread because if she ever gets frustrated now I can come here and show her there are a lot of tall girls and they do all different things.
With her expected to be taller than me, along with DS, I have said it will be strange for me to be the shortest of our family because I've always been taller then most people I'm around

My cousin was tall for her age...but then we realized she just spurted early!! Everyone caught up to her by high school, although she was very tall before that. She wound up at 5'6", an average height and typical of women in my family.

I have a (female) friend who is 6'1". She feels her height gives her an advantage with her dancing ability if that's a booster for anyone!! However, she teaches kindergarten so height isn't an issue...even if she were 5'1" she'd still be the tall one in the room!!

My 16 year old daughter is 6'2" (and she's been that height for a few years now). She gets it from her 6'8" dad. At 5'9", I'm downright petite in our house!

Naturally, people always ask if she plays basketball, but soccer is actually her sport. She is a goalkeeper, and if I can brag for a moment, one of the best in her age bracket in our state. A college scholarship is a real possibly. But the most important thing to me is that she loves to play and it's helped her become much more comfortable with her height.

Deep down, she's still a little girl at heart, though. No one is more excited to plan our Disney trips than her. And you'll find more Anna & Elsa stuff in her room than my 8 year old's.

Thanks for letting me share a little! Out of curiosity, I just wanted to see if anyone else on here had a tall daughter as well, maybe even one like mine that eclipsed the 6 foot mark. (Oh, and tips on where to find jeans and women's size 12 shoes are always welcome, LOL.)

I once knew a guy who wore a t-shirt to specific large group events and parties- it read "I'm 7' tall, I don't play basketball and no, my knees don't hurt." Apparently those are the three questions he is repeatedly asked.

I have a friend who is 6' and we used to shop together a lot. The clearance rack was her friend. She could find clothes for next to nothing because no one else wore her size!

My daughter had a tall friend who was a mess growing up but when she hit about 16 it really came together and now looks like a super model. She likes heels , short skirts, and has the don't you wish attitude. Still a nice girl, she just enjoys being tall

If she's that tall, you may want to expand her horizons. Basketball & volleyball would increase her options for a full scholarships. Take advantage of your good fortune. ;)

Just as an aside, you know tall girls hate to hear this? Not everyone likes sports and not everyone is athletically talented.

6 footer. 6 ft tall by age 13 and stopped growing then.

Target jeans are the best! They come in a variety of lengths and cuts and the tall is actually tall and the price is affordable.

Ann Taylor stuff is really long as is Banana Republic.

Can't help you with shoes as she wears a 10, but I will 2nd Zappos. They seem to carry many sizes.
