I am looking for a nice but reasonable off site hotel near Universal studios for Feb. I known sometimes the areas around Orlando can be unsafe and I will be a woman and child traveling alone so safety is important. Maybe one in Kissimee or anywhere near an interstate I guess 30 mins or less to Universal.

Also looking for one with a good free breakfast every morning perhaps and microwave and mini fridge in rooms

If anyone has any good suggestions let me know!

There are several really close to Universal. Some are near the main front entrance and there is one near the back side of Universal.

Drury Inn & Suites Orlando - Behind Universal very close to the park(s) in Dr. Phillips and walking distance to some of the best restaurants in all of Orlando on "Restaurant Row" which is just one area of Sand Lake Road.

Doubletree by Hilton - Pretty much right across the street from the main entrance of Universal.

You can't go wron with either of this properties in my opinion. Also, Kissimmee is not all "that" close to Universal. It's not all that far, still not close to Universal.

If you are looking to save some cash on food, Drury Inn has free breakfast, free drinks and snacks, and a free evening buffet (hot dogs, salad, meatballs, chili, chicken wings) with 3 free adult beverages per adult.

I wouldn't stay in Kissimmee, just too far and too much potentially time-killing traffic.

We just stayed at Drury Inn last Saturday night. Price was $80 and they sent me a coupon a week before for a free room upgrade. We had a suite on the top floor. We swam, ate their "kickback dinner" with six free alcoholic drinks between my husband and I, plus breakfast in the morning. AWesome!

Keep an eye on the onsite prices in feb for Cabana Bay. Depending on the # of nights you might find a great rate, but no free breakfast

We just booked a package through Universal vacations at Comfort Inn Suites Convention Center. Reviews were decent. Looked at Drury Inn, but they were $200 per night, out of our budget. We're looking in April, though.

Doubletree at the Entrance to Universal! Right across the street. Great amenities....Starbucks in the lobby as well as many food options. You can walk across the street to Universal or take a cab ride for $5 each way.

The Rosen Center is very fancy but very low priced for what you get IMO. Around $99 for a 4 star place that feels like you are staying in a huge airport. Very nice and super comfy beds! Right across from the Convention Center on International.

thanks for the tips. I love Drury Inns! We stayed at one in Nashville and it was amazing. I will check out their rates. Has anyone used the hotels that have shuttles to the park? how do those go? I was looking at some near Universal that offered free shuttles to the park to save us parking and having to drive.

When we were at Drury Inn they had a shuttle. Not sure if it was free or not or how convienient. The hotel is so close to Universal, a cab or Uber ride would likely be cheaper than parking.

thanks! I was actually looking up info about ubers or taxis since the shuttle might not be as quick or convenient as I would like.
