Packing lists...anything you wish you had but forgot?

Hi all,

Preparing for our first Aulani trip in October. We are staying in a 1 bedroom villa and I started making a packing list. This has made me curious if there is anything you wished you had but forgot to bring?

I'm certain I'll forget something!

I brought zip lock bags, but wished I had brought more! Also, if you plan on cooking there aren't any spices in the room. We brought salt and pepper. I also brought large plastic cups. My DH and I like to make ice tea in our room so that's what we used those for. Also worked great for taking cocktails to the pool. :)

Any kind of water bottle/cups are definitely good for bringing your own drinks to the beach or Starlit Hui. We used our water bottles that we used during the day but it would have been easier to have separate cups for that purpose, like @crystal1313.

What I wished I had brought - some aluminum foil for cooking in the oven and more sunscreen. I thought I brought enough sunscreen but didn't! Everything you do is outdoors! It was pricey compared to the mainland. We were not staying on points, so there might be more on my list if we had been. We had daily housekeeping, so we had plenty of coffee, laundry detergent, etc. I think that stuff I would definitely have brought if we were staying on points.

Aulani is not located in a third-world country. Anything you forgot or wish you had (but don't) is easily obtained while there. If not on site, then across the street at the Island Country Market or just down the street in Kapolei at any of several stores.

I HAD spices on my list but forgot to pack them and that was one thing I wish I had brought. Just stuff like Montreal steak spice, cinnamon, garlic and onion powder, etc. Yes it was easy to obtain, but I only needed a little of each while I was there so it would have been so much easy to bring them from home.

Also, we didn't buy ketsup or mayo. There were packets you could grab at Ulu cafe. They also had jelly. That way you don't have to buy a big jar. :)

Yup, quantities of things you don't want to buy and leave most of behind... that's the stuff you want to bring obviously. Why buy a whole thing of detergent if you can bring a few pods from home?

mugs to bring coffee down to the pool if not planning on buying the Disney mug.

Probably more sunblock than you think you need. We just bought at target, since we only did carry on bags. We went through 2 big bottles

I always bring some ziplock bags and a couple of small garbage bags, like what you put in your kitchen trash can. We spend our last morning in the water and always have a few things that are not totally dry, or that I don't want touching my other clothes, so I keep them segregated in these bags.

We tend to stay in Vacation Rentals and Time Shares so we've gotten pretty good at using Costco for a week's worth of food. The few things we do need to bring are ziplock bags, aluminum foil, chipclips, and spices. Nobody sells that stuff in small enough quantities to be worth it.

We buy refillable mugs for everyone in our family so I brought wine charms to differentiate each one for our first Aulani trip. Somehow managed to forget them for the second trip. :headache:

I bring picnic sized pepper and salt for eggs in the villa. Ziplocks as other have mentioned. However, as BobNed mentioned it is easy to buy things there as long as you have a rental car.

Waterproof camera. We got so many envious looks as we took pictures/videos of our kiddies in the pools and lazy river!
