18 days to my Brilliance Med/Venice cruise!!

I really enjoyed your report! Never heard of Kotor, but it looks gorgeous. Filing away in my head. :)

Thanks!

It really is a beautiful, walled medieval town. Fewer people I encountered spoke more than the most basic English, but it was enough for me to get by. :)

The climb to the fortress ruins is steep and a bit slippery (and costs 3 euro...and apparently there is the possibility or reptiles, which I missed before I hiked it), but definitely worth it! Just take water with you - and probably some euros to buy on the way back if it's hot like it was the day I was there.

I love your review! We just booked our honeymoon for October 2017 on Rhapsody of the Seas from Venice. We will port in Dubrovnik, Kotor, Naples, Rome, Livorno, and Barcelona. Your photos of Kotor look like a dream!

Thank you!! Kotor is completely charming!! The hike up to the fortress ruins is tough, but SOOOOOOOO worth it!! Just be sure to take water and some small denomination euros (1 and 2 euro coins...and maybe their "cents" in the 50 denominations) for refills on water and/or a celebratory soda or beer. :)

I just found your trip report. I am so excited. I know that I will have a million questions for you. We 'chatted' a bit about this cruise because I am going on the Brilliance in July for a 12 day cruise to Mediterranean. We had a 17 day trip to Disney this summer, and it was awesome, but now I'm starting to look forward to our cruise.
Questions
- did you do a beverage package? We like coffees /lattes, smoothies ... looking at the middle package and paying OOP for any alcoholic beverages (1 or 2 a day probably).
- is there a movie theatre on board? And if so, are the movies new releases?
- the adult area looks nice, but I LOVE the adult area on the Fantasy DCL ship. Is the adult area on the Brilliance quiet? relaxing?
- did you see any mixology classes or wine/beer/rum tasting?
Thank you so much for your report. I loved the pictures too. Looks like you had a fantastic trip!

It's been a while since I was on here (life and stuff), but I'm now 18 days away from my 12-night Med/Venice cruise on Brilliance of the Seas! It will be my second RCCL cruise (did Radiance to Alaska last summer).

I remember earlier there was someone considering this itinerary, so I'll be sure to do a report when I'm back (not planning on getting internet on board).

So if anyone has any questions about the ship or the ports (RT from Barcelona hitting Villefranche (Nice), Livorno (Florence), Civitavecchia (Rome), Salerno (Amalfi Coast), Venice, Ravenna, and Kotor), let me know and I'll try to answer. :)

Thanks! It was a lot of fun!!

1 - I did not do one, but I wish I had. It would have been nice to not have to worry about my budget but have a couple of glasses of wine with dinner.

2 - There is a movie theatre - much smaller than Disney. I didn't go to them, but i don't think any were totally currently in theatres. Very recent though.

3 - I love the Solarium on Radiance class! It is enclosed, but generally quiet and relaxing.

4 - I honestly did not pay attention as the cruise was so port intensive I just wanted to chill on sea days. Sorry!

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I just happened upon this trip report and had to comment that it was lovely! Makes me want to ditch my husband and kids for my 40th next year! Um, except it's his 40th 10 days before mine, LOL! He probably wouldn't appreciate being left behind. I really really want to sail into Venice now. Dang it, I need to stop reading trip reports already!!

The Venice sail-in is gorgeous!! And the sail-out... For us it was around sunset, so it was even better!!

Oh, and thank you! :)

Thank you for posting the link to your blog, your review was great. It's on my "to do" list and I just don't see us shucking our the $$ for a DCL med cruise. This itinerary looked great.

Thanks! It really was a lot of fun! And it's so port-intensive that it's an itinerary where the ship isn't AS important (I still have certain things I want the ship to have), so I didn't have as hard of a time not being on Disney. Of the three cruise lines I've been on as an adult, while Disney is my first choice, I'd definitely consider Radiance class ships in RCCL's fleet. (I have no desire to sail on the big behemoths.)
