Everthing you wanted to know about Uber/Lyft at WDW

Hi. Few questions:

1) for VGF, can Uber pick up/drop off at that lobby or only at the main building?
2) When ordering UberXL, what can I do to increase my chance of a larger SUV (i.e., one for 5 plus some luggage; yes, will then tip generously) instead of a minivan. Can I turn down the driver choices that pop up until a better match? I've used Uber mildly before and always take what comes, but don't know the answer to this one.

I'm thinking the 3rd party Uber set up apps may be the only way to go for this.

Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

1) Absolutely, just make sure the location is entered correctly.

2) Youll get a vehicle that can hold 6 people and you dont really get a choice. You can always immediately cancel and try again for something larger. Around wdw there are a lot of minivans as XL, and some of the mid/

Wondering if Uber might be a good option for us. We are staying at POP and heading over to POR to see Yee Haw Bob at 8:30. Would probably want to get to POR around 7 possibly earlier. We always takes buses to Disney Springs and then to resort and then back again. It's a trek! Is this something that is doable?

Not a problem! Its a real short car ride.

I'm sorry if these questions have already been answered...
I live in a rural area and I have never used uber or lyft
What do people notice as the differences between uber and lyft at disney? How far in advance should I get the uber and lyft apps? I believe there to be codes for free rides for first time riders - how do I find these? Also can my DH and myself each sign up to get two free uber rides and 2 free lyft rides? If so how do I do this? Also, do the free ride codes expire? I'm sure I will have more questions, but this should be a good start. We leave in a week and I am thinking of trying these services.

Point of interest: Bloomberg broke the news that Uber will begin picking up riders in self-driving cars starting this month in Pittsburgh. They plan to have 100 autonomous vehicles in service by the end of the year. For now, each will have a safety driver behind the wheel to take control as needed (which reportedly happens pretty frequently at this point), plus an engineer riding shotgun to monitor the whole thing. Riders who accept an autonomous ride will get it for free.

Why Pittsburgh? They say Carnegie Mellon U. is a major player in autonomous vehicle development.

The future is closer than you think. ;)

I'll be impressed if the self driving cars can handle Puttsburgh's hills when they're covered in slush.

1. Only differences I've noticed are 1, Lyft lets you add tip and 2, we have gotten some slightly older cars with Lyft (no idea if they allow older cars or just coincidence, I'm betting coincidence) but bottom line is the difference is negligible outside the tip factor
2. On the way to Disney is sufficient
3. I Googled for them. Lyft is currently $5 off the first 10 rides and I believe Uber, which we got much longer ago, was a flat $$ credit that you used before you paid for a ride.
4. Yes
5. Different paypal accounts, or credit cards
6. Do not know

Will there be a problem getting Uber at HS, after fireworks? In other words, during a high crowd exit time. Then we will be heading to HRH at Universal. Any problems in going that far off property at that time of evening?

Thanks!

If getting an Uber from POFQ to Cabana Bay at US, should we get two vehicles? There will be 4 adults and 1 child, plus luggage. I wouldn't think a Mini Van with the third row installed wouldn't be able to fit all of us, plus gear...

that might be a good idea. Just be aware that youll need to order from two different accounts

We will be staying offsite at Bonnet Creek. It looks like it might be YMMV, but will we be able to be dropped off at BC so we can walk to the International Gateway at Epcot? Can we be picked up at BC to go back to Bonnet Creek (it seems like the guard wouldn't ask the driver if the people they are picking up were guests of BC)? I guess if that's not possible we could do Swan and Dolphin and take the boat.

After reading through this thread I have decided we will use Uber on our next trip. I'am going to be the only adult and I do not like driving in areas I do not know. I'm excited to be able to try it. We did take Mears one year but Uber sounds better. We plan on going to Sea World.
My question is where do we get picked up at Sea World? I'm kind of worried about finding the right place to go for pick up. I also would like to tip the drivers and wondered what is a reasonable tip traveling to and from the Poly to Sea World?

Sea World has a bus/taxi pickup area. Turn right as you exit the park. If you can't find the vehicle, you can contact the driver by phone or text within the app.

Thank you for offering to tip the driver. Contrary to common belief, tips are not included in Uber fares, but tipping is entirely voluntary and cash only. Very few riders do tip Uber drivers, so it's hard to say what a reasonable tip should be. I've received tips ranging from $1 to $5; I'm always happy to receive any of them.

Ok thank you.

If a trip from BC to CR is about $7, what would a "reasonable" tip be? Thanks for the info.

I just would like to confirm with the kind UBER driver here ... And with any past passengers who did the same... :

Is it correct that I can order an UBER XL in the morning to our Resort "village" (CBR) - via dropping the pin at the desired pick up point- and it can take us to Port Canaveral?
If so, a few questions:
I need a rear facing children's car seat for a one year old - is it possible to request this?
We would also need a minivan - no way we would fit us, our four suitcases and two carry ons and two strollers into any SUV... - will I see what type of vehicle is coming? Can I tell the driver before he decides to pick us up, how much luggage we have?
Will we get a receipt, or is everything electronic?
Do we see what we are charged before we part ways with the driver?
I have never used UBER!!!
Just downloaded the app!

THANK YOU!
