Great Movie Ride closes for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway

It's time that Disney drops Mickey as their corporate symbol and change to something that the fans can better relate to, I think.

I agree that it is time for a change, but let's face it, every time Disney makes a change, well it just doesn't work out.

That's a hilarious generalization that isn't even remotely true. I could list 20-30 changes Disney made that are excellent. You are correct that not every change will be for the better - but many are improvements. (Replacing "Food Rocks" with "Soarin?", the upgrade to Haunted Mansion a few years back, Buzz Lightyear replacing If You Had Wings/Dreamflight, I would argue the Three Calebelleros ride in Mexico is an improvement.)

Sounds like that you just like to argue. Have fun with yourself.

There have been improvements though. The ones he listed were good examples of it actually, though I will admit Dreamflight was interesting but with people on another thread arguing on whether or not Wreck-It Ralph would fit in Tommorowland while Dreamflight was definitely out of place!

We enjoy the screens and simulator rides. I suspect most people do as they are extremely popular and they keep building them.

Ehh..most would say

1) It is likely cheaper to do so and likely takes less overall time
2) They have less overall space to utilize than WDW has (i.e. Universal has neighborhoods surrounding their two existing parks in FL)

One of the largest complaints you will see about USO is the amount of simulators. As the saying goes the key is moderation. If every new ride is a simulator and every ride taken out is replaced by a simulator you lose balance in the type of rides you have.

(Sorry for the off-topicness)

Another ride closing, and possibly before any of the new 'lands' open. Soon there won't be anything left to visit in Hollywood Studios. It's definitely not worth paying for a day ticket now. Also, whole new housing estates are built faster than it takes Disney to build a new ride, is it any wonder attendance has dipped?

I'm sure people do enjoy them, though I imagine cost effectiveness plays more into their prevalence than guest satisfaction.

Probably.

However what % of park attendees will not go on a roller coaster? DW won't go anywhere near one, but she loves all the "screen" rides. I would suspect that number is at least 50% and most likely higher.

It's not that I like to argue (And I also won't take your very insulting rebuttal personally.) ...You said that "EVERY time Disney makes a change, it doesn't work out". That implies that you think that they've never made an improvement to anything ever. I think that is certainly debatable. I was just showing examples where they did make things better. If you had said "MANY times Disney makes a change, it doesn't work out." I would've agreed with you. Some changes were not for the better. The two changes to the Imagination Pavillion were a disaster. Though I like Monster's Inc Laugh Floor - I think Timekeeper was more entertaining of an attraction. I could list others on both side of the argument - but my disagreement was with the definitive nature of your statement.

Getting back to the topic - there will always be people that will be upset with change. And any changed attraction is going to have people that like it or those that dislike it. I know for a fact that people HATE that Maelstrom was removed, well before they ever rode the new Frozen ride. However, I am sure there are also people out there that think the new attraction is a massive improvement. The same will likely occur with GMR. There are people that love it. I consider myself a HUGE movie fan and a fan of MANY of the movies in the GMR (I may be one of the few people on here that's actually SEEN all the movies in the GMR) and I think GMR stinks. So yeah - give me something new...It's the one attraction I would LOVE to design myself.

This makes complete sense with how Martin has been saying the e ticket coming would be controversial. Ripping out GMR a DHS opening day attraction is huge. That means Indiana jones is the last opening day attraction in DHS...

Don't listen to anything Martin says! He's a liar, a phony and a fraud!

Interesting note, several of the sources including Martin and Spirit from WDWmagic like the attraction and the IP that will be used for the new ride but just don't like the placement. They think this would've been better in its own space rather than in GMR.

Again, ignore those two losers! They're both liars, phonies, frauds and have major attitude problems!
