A Birthday Trip For Two: My First TR/PTR

Good luck with your classes.

The only thing I have to say, as I also have soft luggage, and mostly always have, is to pack what I don't want wet, in plastic bags. One time, Orlando airport very kindly left the luggage cart out in the rain. So, my bag, and many others' bags were nice and wet when we retrieved them at our destination.

Wahoo, time is getting closer!

I know we are getting so close!! This week with classes I have been informing my professors that I won't be in class the week of our trip and it's making me very excited! Also, we just picked up our final paperwork from our travel agent today!! :cool1:

How lovely of Orlando to leave your luggage out like that! (Not!) :faint: I do use packing cubes when I travel and keep my cosmetics and toiletries scuba knit bag so maybe this would keep our things from the wetness! We have discussed it and decided that in a in about two years (if we decide to start traveling... I have a felling we will because Day LOVES Star Wars, Disney is in our future) we are going to buy a hard case set. This set while it had great review and we searched it was a bit of a shot guns choice. We could make up our minds about what to get and we were running out of time for shipping. So we saw this set, saw this small price tag, and purchased without must thought. So I really just want them to get us through this trip!

Thank you Schumigril! I had a feeling this is what we had to do. :D

The good thing is you don't usually have to wait too long for the boats..........our captain who we knew well by this point, radioed ahead for us one year when we left PB after eating at Sal's, and told them to hold the RPR boat till we got to Citywalk........it was so funny.......we had just mentioned we were going back to RPR while chatting to him...........nice of him.

The RPR boat captain told the folks sitting on the boat waiting they were waiting on VIP's.........then we wandered on........:rotfl: You could see them thinking............whaaaat........who the heck are they........:confused3 It was only a few moments........but funny!

Oh goodness!!! That so funny!!! :rotfl2: Makes a great story too! I have read that you don't have to wait long for boats frequently on the boards. However if it's my luck it will decide to lightning or rain everyime we decide to use a boat!! I could see it happening to use

15 Days Left? 16 Days left? Anyway.... Is it to early to pack???

Hey guys! We are just 16 days out from our departure day! Well 16 days if you count the departure day... 15 if you don't. I never know how to count these things. If I count them myself I don't count the day that I am already in, so I wouldn't count today making it 15 day from now till we leave. On the flip side my iphone countdown and the DIS countdown say 16 day. So not really sure if it's supposed to be 15 or 16 but I like the idea of 15 days better since that puts me one day closer! :joker:

In Travel News...
We made out our bucket lists!!! Our top five must do things while were are there!
Universal Bucket List - Johna
  • Ride NEW Hulk
  • Ride Kong
  • Ride Hogwarts Express / Gringotts
  • Frozen Butterbeer
  • Have a Milkshake and Tachos at Toothsomes

Universal Bucket List – Day
  • Ride NEW Hulk
  • Ride Gringotts
  • Ride Kong
  • Eat At The Cowfish
  • Have Fun
Now, Day's last one is a little generic, I know, but he has never been and has done much research about Universal. He leaves that to me :smooth: . He wants to be surprised and just enjoy his vacation.

As you can probably ready, I've been debating if it's too soon to begin packing or not. Now, that I'm back to school for the fall semester, I have less free time than I did in the summer. Most classes I look a lot like this emoji :coffee: half awake, and not really sure what I am reading or writing. I'm not use to my early morning schedule just yet. Anywho... It's made me wonder if I should slowly began to pack or at least throw everything in my suit case as I laundry them. :laundy: This way what I want to take is all in the bag, I'll just have to straighten is before we leave. I'm a lil bit afraid that if I don't then somewhere later on I'll be like oh... I need to pack... I'll do this homework later :rolleyes1 and totally forget my homework. I'm really not sure what to do though. I'll probably give myself another week and Start packing around Labor Day, which is Day's birthday.

We have no clue what we are doing for his birthday yet but probably just dinner and a movie, those are two of his favorite things to do.

Last question, this one is for all my AAA members, have you ever gotten a $50 activity credit for Universal from AAA before? We picked up our final paperwork today and our agent told us we had one an we would pick it up at the hotel. I was just curious what you could use it for. It says it CAN'T be used on hotel stays, tickets, or Blue Man Group. So yeah just curious :)

See you soon guys!

Lol......we have two countdowns too.......day we fly and the day before when we leave for overnight at airport........

I'm a last minute packer..........I more or less know whats going so I have it down to a fine art now........in saying that, I always take far too many clothes and don't wear some..........I haven't learned not to do that yet!

If you feel better packing early than absolutely...........if you're going to be busy, it's one less thing to think about........and adds to the excitement!

You have some nice plans for while you're there........

I'm going too. I don't know why I didn't ask her when I was there. :confused3
Through the years I have learned to call places and ask instead of thinking I know the answer

I would second guess my decisions and worry up to the trip if I really knew what to expect

So if you call the person that has the info from UO have them send the answer to you in an email

This way you have backup if you need it

Well my agent is out of the office till Sept. 6th (She's on vacation lol) and her "helper", a new girl, wasn't sure about what I could and couldn't use the credit for. I sent an email to guest service, so maybe I'll get an answer before my agent gets back.

When you send emails to guest services, it is always good to include your phone number as sometimes they will call you back instead of an email

That's true..........I have always been called back by a Universal representative if I have emailed any query to them.........always within a day or so.

They called! that was quick.. She told me that I could use it for things within the resort but not the parks. So.... yeah that what I can use it for.

Glad they responded quickly to you
Now you can plan that Aaa credit spending

Use the credit for food or at the gift shops at the hotel

Eateries at the hotel are good
Grab soda, snacks or souvenirs at the hotel gift shop

I was thinking gift shop shopping! or even food! The disclaimer says you have to use it all at once, any remain balance will not be transferred. I'll have to ask more once I get to RPR. I always like to get a shirt and a hat where ever I go, along with a Christmas ornament so I think we will use if shopping!

The gift shop inside rpr is to the right when you enter the lobby from the front entrance

They have Tshirts , hats, pins, UO logo items , etc
The room is L shaped

By the cash register to the right of it has fridgerator items
Soda, snacks, otc meds, and an assortment of items

I bought my hand carved cats there 3 years back

Also a gift shop of hand carved figures to the left of the front entrance to the lobby

Orchid lounge has sushi starting about 4 each day
You could drop $50 easily there

Also the restaurants could be used for your gift card from aaa
