7DMT...impossible?

I have to say, we rode the 7DMT regularly during our last trip. We just kept 'refreshing' the WDW app and new FPs would come up often.

In fact, we didn't miss out on any rides by using the app and checking regularly.

pixiedust:
We rode during a parade at MVMCP and waited maybe 5-10 minutes. But we also got super lucky, we were in line for Big Thunder and I pulled up the app and clicked to change my FP+ and to my shock 7DMT showed up, with a time window starting in 10 minutes. I had tried that periodically during the trip, and it finally paid off.
They have parades at WDW?....I'm always too busy riding Splash Mountain....BTW 7DMT was a 2 minute disappointment. I will fastpass it if open but that's it.

We have never had problems getting FP's for 7DMT. We even got to ride it a few times during MNSSHP. As another person said.. Get in line about 10 minutes before the park closes. The wait won't be too bad. Of our MK visits on our Sept. trip we got 7DMT on 2 of three visits. We didn't even try for the 3rd park day as we figured the niece and nephew would want to do something else so we got Peter Pan instead. :)

I hope it works out for you though. Keep checking multiple times daily if you have the opportunity. If not, hit it up towards the end of your day in the park or you could always do Rope Drop and rush to it like the rest of the hoard. :)

Keep checking, last August I was able to get 2 FP the day before. It might help to break your group up, but with overlapping times, it's possible.

So here's my Stalking Game Plan, based on all your feedback.
1. Rope drop
2. Compulsively refresh fast pass availability once I've used my 3.
3. Stalk the line and if it ends "inside," hop in line. If it's "outside," keep walking past it and try again.
4. Ride during parades (not fireworks though, because I love that show).
5. Ride right before closing

Surely with one of these plans, I will get to ride 7DMT without standing in line for an hour. Thanks for all the tips!

My 60 day is on Sunday and this is one of the rides we want to get a FP for, any suggestions ? What time am I able to go online to get the FP?

We went on Tuesday for rope drop. No Fast passes for 7 dwarfs. We headed right there - got in line, sign said 60 minutes already. We waited 35 minutes. Was it worth the time waiting, not really. For the hype that I have read on these boards, I was expecting much much more. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the ride, but for hitting rope drop and seeing much shorter lines for a lot of other rides, we wasted time to ride this.

This is how I feel about 7DMT for sure....We enjoyed it, but only because we walked on with a FP. I am not interested waiting 30 minutes for a 1 and a half minute ride. If I don't get any FP for it on my next trip, we will hit Peter Pan's Flight and others instead while those are walk on.

I also recommend to keep checking for a FP. Last November I was able to get 4 passes with over lapping times a few day before we left. It required me to check many times a day but it was totally worth it so we could all ride together on our first day at MK. Good luck:-):-)

I agree that the answer everyone else has given is probably the "best" one. A few other things to consider. Check the FP+ system several times a day. People add and drop stuff all the time, you may luck into a 7DMT FP+. We've done it. I also agree with the above post that just looking at the line is a good gauge of how long it will really be. Third, I'd suggest getting the Lines app. I've found it to be more realistic of wait times than MDE (which reflects what's posted at the ride entrance). MDE is very conservative, which I'd assume is done on purpose. A posted 60 minute wait may actually only be 40.

What is the name of the "lines app"? or is that the name?

One more thing about doing it around closing, the coasters, at least for our family, always seem more fun at night:) We use to do RD and now we much prefer staying to closing.

I was bummed when I couldn't get FPs for 7DMT 60 days out for even a single person for day 1 or day 4. But someone here on the boards said people cancel all the time and to keep checking, and sure enough, later that same day I was able to get 7 FPs for 7DMT for our 4th day! We used modify on an existing FP for 1-2 people at a time and ended up getting all 7 of us for the same time slot. So it may not be as impossible as it seems.

It's very common to be able to ride 7D twice during the last half hour of operation. We find this to be a much more efficient use of time than fighting the rope drop crowds.

Late at night you can expect to see posted wait times roughly 4 times the actual wait.

That's something you hear all the time, to short. However, you never hear that about RnRC which is actually shorter. It's hard to keep the public happy.
