Airport scans and two year olds

Last year we took our kids to Disney when they were 14 months old and of course we were able to carry them through the body scanners at the airport. They will be a little over two in October when we go. Will the let us carry them again or will tsa try to have them walk through by themselves?? Thanks!!

When I have traveled with my daughter, they let us use the metal detector scanner and basically had her follow me straight through (watch mommy then follow her). We couldn't be touching but she was right behind me. All that to say that it is doubtful they will let you carry through if no medical or other reason they couldn't just walk through.

We have flown when DS was 19 months and then later when DD was 22 months. Both times the toddlers walked by themselves through the scanner. One parent went first, then the kids and then the other parent. Easy Peasy.

My two year old had to walk through herself, but it was literally only 4 steps from mommy to daddy - she was excited about the whole thing. No problems!

Now I'm hoping I can carry my 1 year old through this year?!
I hadn't even thought about it!

when my lo was 15 months and 18 months they let me carry her and just wiped my hands for residue. I'm assuming this time around since she is walking independently and obediently now they will make her walk through on her own. at 18 months she still wasn't able to listen to my direction so tsa understood and was okay with that

I wore my 2 year old in a carrier both times (it had no metal on it). I flew home with both kids (2 and 4) by myself. There was absolutely no way I could send both kids through the scanner and then follow because DD2 would have taken off guaranteed. I saw parents carrying their 1-2 year olds through the scanners while we were there.

My kids flew last at 12 and 9 years. They have never gone thru the scanner. They got thru the old school metal detector.

Thanks all for your feedback. Seems like it can go either way. We will have 3 adults and 2 toddlers. My daughter should be fine going through to "get daddy" and hopefully my son will "get mommy".

Hoping tsa will allow a "run" through from my boy along with some possible crying from me putting him down.

It will be 2 seconds they should be fine.

You don't have to use the new scanners. I was going to ask them if we could use the old ones and before I even had a chance they motioned for me and my 5 year old to go through the old ones. Sons think they just have all kids go through the old ones. My husband went through the new scanner. when my son was 2 I carried him through the old ones so we did go through together. And kids can keep their shoes on.

I have carried my 2 yr old through the scanner in my Ergo with no problems. We had to have extra pat downs due to her food because of her allergies, and there they just had me switch hips and did one side, then the other.

My 2 year old walked through on his own...but they had me and my children go through the old metal detector and only my husband went thru the newer scanner. They also seemed to be patting down many people who went thru the canner as well

Children under 13 are exempt from the whole body scanner that you stand in and hold your arms up over your head.
