News Round Up 2016

Beginning August 29 2016, a dedicated bus will run internally, stopping at the eight bus stops approximately every 20 minutes.

OK this confuses me - first I thought there already was an internal bus, and (b) where are EIGHT bus-stops? Are they including the Treehouse Villas in the list now? I can only think of FIVE bus-stops at SSR. There used to be a separate bus to shuttle from Treehouse to main SSR - maybe they are combining the two?

Helen Mirren Joins the cast of Disney’s ‘The Nutcracker’ - from Variety:

Helen Mirren is in talks to join Keira Knightley in Disney’s new retelling of “The Nutcracker.”

Mackenzie Foy is on board to play Clara, with Misty Copeland and Morgan Freeman also attached to the movie.

The live-action film — based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s 1816 story “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” — is titled “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.” In the pic, one of Clara’s Christmas toys — a Nutcracker doll — comes to life and battles the evil Mouse King with seven heads.

Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and choreographers Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanovturned Alexandre Dumas’ adaptation of the classic story into the “The Nutcracker” ballet in 1892.

Lasse Hallström will direct the upcoming film from Ashleigh Powell’s script. Mark Gordon is producing, while Lindy Goldstein is executive producing. Sam Dickerman and Allison Erlikhman are overseeing the project for Disney. Sara Smith is working on behalf of the Mark GordonCompany.

My guess is that includes the treehouses but I don't know for sure. I guess I won't know for sure until January when I'm staying there.

I agree they are very detailed but still have an animated look. I can't wait for this movie.
Me too. Can't deny that the trailer for the Beauty and the Beast gives me the chills but in a good way. I haven't had that on any of their other live action remake trailers thus far.

I agree I don't think any other the previous live action trailers have been this good. However that doesn't mean the movie won't be good. For example I thought Cinderella and Petes dragon were very good films.

These are the stops:

• Treehouse Villas North
• Treehouse Villas South
• Congress Park
• Springs
• Grandstand
• Carousel
• Paddock
• Congress Park

Though Congress Park is listed twice, so maybe there are 7 physical locations, but the bus stops 8 times (with 2 stops at Congress Park)

So that's what it sounds like - they used to have an internal bus that only did the main 5 stops, then a separate Treehouse Villa bus that stopped at I think the Springs only. This is probably a smart move, but it will make the internal bus a pretty lengthy journey. The one time we stayed there, we didn't use it anyways. We were in Congress Park and just walked to the Springs.

could the second stop in Congress Park be to let other people off the closest to Springs possible? Not familiar with SSR.

My guess:
The second two stops in Congress park means that a single bus is basically doing two loops:
Congress Park, Treehouse Villas North, Treehouse Villas South, Congress Park

AND

Congress Park, Springs, Grandstand, Carousel, Paddock, Congress Park

So the bus stops at Congress Park twice, and if you get on it the wrong time, you could have to loop over through the Treehouse Villas if you don't want to. However, it does make life easier for those staying at Treehouse Villas, who had to change buses if they wanted to get to Congress Park - which is the stop nearest DTD/Disney Springs.

Here's one for all the people that say they will never see one of the overseas parks, that cost is too expensive with air travel and it's cheaper to do WDW. Not promoting anything here and am deleting the travel agency names and links. Granted, you would have to buy your own park tickets but.....

I think the bus situation with springs is more interesting from the angle of early returns on springs...rather than if they charge for parking.

I don't know if anyone noticed...but the parking garages are not designed to collect tolls. That would be disasterous if they tried. And the local/off property crowds aren't paying $20 to park...not when they have that large outlet complex across the street.

I think they were
Looking for "springs" to really bail their butts out in the parks with 3 in states of flux...

I tried it 3 different times In July...trying to be fair...

...nope...I don't think it can do it. It made me long for the "old downtown" even more than some of the most ardent PI defenders...it's just not right.

Lots of CONGESTION and high end window shopping in its future.

Just a thought.

We ate at Morimoto on a Saturday evening last month and I could not get over that there was only one way to get from Marketplace to the Landing right now -- a VERY narrow bridge. I know, once the construction is over (whenever that will actually be), there will be another way. But for now, this sucks.

The traffic flow is awful...that is a thing to watch going forward...they need another bridge to cross the water section from the west side area over past the bulk of the new stuff...

But I'm hoping once the full area is done they have not done as bad a job of traffic planning as it appears they have right now.

The single file bridges over the "springs"...Which honestly add nothing to the area...are laughable. The one next to frontera/sprinkles leading over to Morimoto was actually funny...I thought it was a joke. The PI to west side area is still a bottleneck...and they created a new bottleneck on the back side of lego/WOD leading to town center...

I'll reserve final judgement...but it is not looking good.

This looks like a bigger version of the downtown traffic congestion with all the charm of 90's disney design taken out of it.

Whitewashed storefronts on concrete with no cover?

Wait...playing a clubbin' riff over the speakers as I stand outside anthropologie or wet seal...

...that's what I had been missing at the marketplace - the feeling that I was shopping at Abercrombie and Fitch as a teenager...

Agree- Cinderella.
Haven't seen Pete's Dragon.

That rivals Caribbean in its complexity/stupidity...

Let's face it: saratogas layout is awful...and the transportation is even worse. In their fervor to throw up quick timeshares...they repeated some past mistakes they had moved away from...like too large of a layout.
